10 00 p.m.: Lucky is the biggest K-pop star on the scene, and she's just performed her hit song "Heartbeat" in Hong Kong to thousands of adoring fans. She's about to debut on The Tonight Show in America, hopefully a breakout performance for her career. But right now? She's in her fancy hotel, trying to fall asleep but dying for a hamburger.

11 00 p.m.: Jack is sneaking into a fancy hotel, on assignment for his tabloid job that he keeps secret from his parents. On his way out of the hotel, he runs into a girl wearing slippers, a girl who is single-mindedly determined to find a hamburger. She looks kind of familiar. She's very cute. He's maybe curious.

12:00 a.m.: Nothing will ever be the same.

He finds this seemingly drunk girl so he hangs out with her and takes her back to his apartment to sleep after a short amount of time? And of course a major reason is because she is cute. Chapters 1 - 5

(view spoiler)[ Already some interesting commentary on being a K-Pop star. Anxiety, lack of sleep, plastic surgery, and having to be always gracious and perfect. I'm curious about Jack. I like how this is a dual POV. I can easily seeing him changing by the end of the book.

I wonder how concerned Lucky's parents can be if they allowed her to get plastic surgery. It's kind of crazy to think about. And feeding her so little is not good for anyone but since she is so tall she needs more calories. Chapter 5 ended pretty great. I'm sure she'll meet him on the streets of Hong Kong but what is her plan when Ren comes back and she's not there? She's also on sleeping pills which is concerning. Hmm... (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Jack's mention about her challenging was real soon. He did explain about the crushing part right afterwards so that's something.

Jack saying the guy in the band is a full on hunk... Dude. You're a guy. Weird thought.

I am pretty concerned that she's on so many pills and is acting like she's drunk. I hope it's addressed later on.

I could see the way they met as something in a K-Drama. (hide spoiler)]

I did not like the transition into him finding out who she was. Too simple.

As soon as Jack started making the connection and wanting to get a picture of her. Ooh boy. My first thought was you better not and a curse word...

The chapter where the old lady recognized her was a bit meh. I see the author is trying to show his kind side. I'm going to stop here and move on to another book before I continue on. I should be able to finish this over the weekend. (hide spoiler)]

I liked how we got that little sneak-peek into K-pop celeb life. I mean, yeah, there are rumours, but the way we see Lucky's life play out, it's like she is a trained robot who's in it by her own wish.

Also I did feel bad about the plastic surgery, she was barely 18! But I wish there was more of her take on altering her appearance than just randomly talking about plastic surgery. It was also slightly eery for Korean parents to be THAT supportive :/ But then again, she's hiding a lot from then (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I was surprised they met on a bus tbh, and also, the pill part was not addressed, like you said. Was it always this way? Because she mentioned not sleeping at all most of the days, but she was full-on sleepy mode that night

Totally! That was too easy and non-confrontational. I kinda predicted the rest, but I liked how the events turned out in the night. Hope you continue it soon. I'm at about a 70% mark, and the initial excitement has been wading down as I can now see the cliches coming. I'm also kinda anticipating Jack's next move, which would make or break the book for me (view spoiler)[ I don't want him to not go with the whole I-need-to-get-the-pictures-to-Trevor thing because he's in love or something like that, but I also don't really want the pictures leaked even though they kinda already are.

I liked that ending, even though it was a bit unrealistic. So Catherine is her real name. I also thought that the one year gap, and Jack being in UCLA played out well in the whole story. (hide spoiler)]
