Did not like this book. The main character is a brat and has no consideration for others which makes it hard to care what happens to her. The story itself keeps jumping about all over the place and is not at all what I was expecting from the blurb. There is also no real ending so what was the point?

1 star!? Really? I haven't read this, but it is on my tbr and I hope to get to it yet this year. Personally, I don't mind a book with "no real ending," and this is especially common for literary fiction.
I will be curious to see how I react to this book :P

Lots of other people have loved it but I really didn't. I think I just hated the main character so much it would have had to be pretty brilliant to get a good rating. I rate serial killers higher. Worst book this year so far for sure.

Oh, wow! Yeah, a bad main character can kill a book if they are not bad in a compelling way.
I think it is pretty short... now I am even more intrigued to bump this up on the list!
I'll be curious to see how you guys go. I do sometimes have strange taste in books so just because I disliked it doesn't mean anyone else will. I am also quite hard to impress (ask my students) and have lots of buttons which characters can press causing a lower rating.
I tend to be the opposite in that I am probably more forgiving than I should be in most cases. I will keep you posted!
Oh no! I also have this on my TBR, and have a few IRL friends that have really loved it. Sad to see you didn't. Now hoping Susie or Meli read it soon, so I can judge my alignment based on theirs lol.

I am reading Pachinko and Black Leopard Red Wolf for May, both long / dense so it won't be this month but I am tempted to fit it into June.
Tracy wrote: "I liked this one, so never fear, Susie! ;)"This is why there is a market for all sorts of books. We all like different things. I was in another group a couple of years ago and dropped out because I didn't end up liking any of the monthly reads which everyone else loved. Guess I'm strange.
That’s one of the things I love about this group, Jen - some of our most interesting discussions are where we react differently to books, and we all love hearing different perspectives.
I'm all for different opinions I just didn't like all the nominated books being ones I didn't like.....At least that is not an issue when we choose our own books even if we do sometimes get it wrong.
A book club with no books you like sounds like no fun at all! It would be like me joining a non-fiction book club. We’re glad to have you here Jen.
