Cass Harvey | 1 comments I read this book in the mid seventies. I'm fairly sure it was a Puffin book.
I only have a very vague notion of what it was about, but I think the protagonist (child) throws a stone back into the sea at the end in order to appease nature and stop the supernatural events that had occurred.
I have a feeling that the stone may have had a hole in it, through which you could see ther otherworld, but I may be mixing up several stories.

Becca (beccalikesbooks) | 2695 comments If it helps, the stone with a hole in it is sometimes called an adder stone or hag stone, although there are a few other names for it too. I know that one appears in The Spiderwick Chronicles, and in Coraline by Neil Gaiman, but those are too recent to be your book.

Hopefully someone else will see this post and come up with some more ideas - don't forget that you can bump your post every thirty days by adding a comment, so that more people will see it.
