Nicolet Organ | 1 comments I am trying to remember the name of a book I read when I was 10 or so in the mid 90s, but I believe the book published in the 1960s - 1980s. The book centered around a young girl in the American West (Arizona, I believe), sometime between the 1880s and 1920s. While I do not remember the primary plot line, I do remember some very specific details: The girl herself or one of her friends was named Portia; There was a scene describing children running after the ice man (a horse carriage carrying a large block of ice that the vendor chipped away at); There was either a traveling show or auction that involved Indian artifacts, including a mummy; There was mention of Geronimo and the Apache tribe. Any help is greatly appreciated!
