Ok, its National Poetry Month. I know there is a few folk that are not the biggest fans. I get it, but I have to confess, I am. Neruda, Angelou, Hughes and Frost are some of my favorites. “And, I, I chose the road less traveled by and it has made all the difference.” - Robert Frost

In the spirit of new poets, there is one in particular I am intrigued by, Outspoken Bean. I just love the name he chose! His poem, This Side Up tells a narrative of a Virginia slave. This line resonated with me: Let your truth seep.
What is within you that should rise

Here’s the poem in its entirety if you’re interested: https://apple.news/A_TNwn2BEQxKpC5yre...

Tanya (tanya712) | 237 comments Wow! Thank you for posting, that is powerful. I’ll be one of the first to balk at poetry sometimes but I always remind myself, just add some rhythm and you have a song lol. I remember spending lots of time contemplating song lyrics, so why not read poetry? Hmmm. Anyway, I loved this line from the poem

Perfection is overrated
And it’s not worth more than the
Complete path.
