C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 639 comments You have until the 15th of April to post a poem and from the 16th to around the 22nd of April, we’ll vote for which one we thought was best!

Please post directly into the topic and not a link. Please don’t use a poem previously used in this group. Only one submission per person is allowed.

Your poem can be of any length!

This week’s topic is: One More Light

The rules are pretty loose. You could write a poem about anything that has to do with the subject/photo but it must relate to the topic somehow.

Most of all have fun!

Poet : Edward Davies

A single shining lonely light
So solitary in the night
It seems to shine so truly bright
Because alone it gleams
If there were only one more light
To feed our solar appetite
To supplement our sheer delight
And make come true our dreams

A million bright stars scattered
across the sky
One of a million, but we all matter
We seem like a small flicker
in the night
But we're all bigger
And despite
being a small speck
in the grand scheme of things
We're all spectacular enough
to bring our dreams to life
Some of us fade and go away
Some were brave and stayed the night
We're more than just one more light

TITLE: Suicide Note
GENRE: Traditional Poetry
RATING: PG for swearing and suicide references

Taking away our most brilliant minds
A suicide note is all you’ll ever find
More questions asked than answers given
Not one mere solution among the living
Not one necromantic spell for the night
Not one more song, not one more light
Only sadness and rage, rinse and repeat
Images of dead bodies’ dangling feet
Permanent reminder of a hangman’s rope
Only a bottle of pills to help you cope
Nothing we do can bring them back
True magic is what this world lacks
We lock each other in the tiniest cages
But it won’t tack on any extra ages
None of the tears we drop in pain
Can keep it from being all in vain
Go through the motions for another day
One more light? Who gives a shit anyway?
