Verte | 4 comments I read this book on gutenberg.org I think it was written somewhere 1900s, but not sure. It was about a woman, her father was an army captain. She graduated with honours from Oxford or Cambridge, in math. Now she had no money and decided to go abroad. Do not remember how she made it to Switzerland. On her way, she met some American who sold bicycle, and she impressed him so much, he gave her and her female travelling companion a bike and they were to advertise them as they biked through Germany and to receive a commission. In Switzerland, she and her friend hired rooms, then she met an older noble woman. They became friends, then this woman's nephew joined her. The young woman rescued him in the mountains, when he fell into a chasm. He proposed and she went away, because they were rich and noble and she did not want a strife in this family, she liked the old lady. She went to Italy where she opened a typing bureau. A man visited her and he wanted her to type his will. It was a rich uncle of the nephew she fell in love with in Switzerland. She typed it and threw away her copy. Then, some time later she found out that the nephew was accused of murdering the rich uncle and changing the will in his favour. She knew it was a lie because she typed the will. She returned to Britain, travelled with the nephew to Scotland, where they got married, then he gave himself up to the authorities and she fought in court and sluiced around to get him acquitted.
