Dan | 3 comments My sister has been wracking her brains for months about this one.

When she was in junior high school back in the 1960's, she read a story in a collection of horror stories. In the story, a bestselling author is at home alone, when a visitor shows up at the door. The visitor, it turns out, is the incarnation of a character created by the author -- a black-hearted villain. The villain castigates the author for failing to give him any redeeming qualities or any shred of happiness.

Rachel | 1532 comments It doesn't exactly match your description, but the story "The Universal Panacea" by Howard Schoenfeld (also published under the title "Built Up Logically") has a fictional character interacting with his creator. You can download a PDF of it here: https://nyc3.digitaloceanspaces.com/s...

The rockabilly werewolf from Mars | 1453 comments This is probably W.S. by L. P. Hartley. It's frequently reprinted, but it first appeared in The Second Ghost Book edited by Cynthia Asquith.

W.S. for the link to the werewolf's suggestion.

You can "bump" your thread every month or so. This pushes your thread back to the top of the folder instead of languishing here on page 96 from two months ago where fewer eyes will see it. Get back in the game! Bump!
You can do this by typing a new comment at the end of the thread, or even by typing the word "bump."
Good luck!
