Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell

I found the last 300 pages a chore to finish. The first half was really good, so I was disappointed that I didn't enjoy that part.

The movie was long too. Glad you could get through it. I read this so long ago, I had to guess how I felt about it.

Hattie Big Sky by Kirby Larson
Hattie Big Sky (Hattie, #1) by Kirby Larson

This YA book tells us the story of Hattie as she tries to make a home for herself in Montana as a homesteader in the years 1917-1918.

Sounds good. Was it?

message 8: by Rosemarie (new)

Rosemarie | 279 comments It was. I gave it four stars. Part of the story was based on the experiences of the author's grandmother as a homesteader in Montana.

The Member of the Wedding by Carson McCullers

Even though I already have a book for Georgia, I really want to share this book with the group. I really enjoyed both the writing and the story.

How did you like the Bradbury book?

message 33: by Rosemarie (new)

Rosemarie | 279 comments It was scary, but I liked it anyway-because of the ending and the writing.

I read Dandelion Wine a couple of years ago, and this book takes place in the same town. But the atmosphere is very different. Dandelion Wine is a lyrical lovely dreamy kind of book.

The Jew Store by Stella Suberman
The Jew Store by Stella Suberman

This is a delightful and informative memoir of the youngest daughter in a Jewish family who run a dry goods store in a small southern town. The author was born there and finally wrote the book in her 80s, since no one else did.
