The featured book for August 2019 is The Beholder by Anna Bright.

This debut novel is a fantasy adventure and the first in a duology. It purportedly mixes Cinderella with The Odyssey, and is already gaining much love from beta readers.

What are your thoughts in the book for this month?

Christine | 120 comments I already had this book on my TBR list before it was selected as a book club pick and am looking forward to its June release. I am interested to see how the mash-up of Cinderella and The Odyssey works.

Kristen | 136 comments Same, Christine! This book looked so good early on, and I'm really excited to read it. It seems like it has a lot going for it, because 1) I'm a sucker for well-done retellings, and 2) The Odyssey. Mythology is my not-so-secret obsession and hello, I'm all for an adventure around the world, Odysseus-style (multi-headed monsters and huge, sentient whirlpool creatures, that is. And maybe a witch or two.)
