James zoetewey | 22 comments In my opinion i do not believe that socialism/communism will never be able to be implemented. This is because human nature will not allow it, humans are naturally greedy and there are always people who will strive to have more than others.

Well, I believe socialism is wrong. Every person is different. Some are smarter and can do more, some can be a dentist while others are mail deliverers. So there will always be some people higher than others.

I agree, there will always be people who are higher than others in a functional society.

ReeshiReads (reeshi) Can someone explain the difference between socialism and capitalism?

they are the same thing, socialism is just a fancy word for communism.

Charlie (theduke-456) | 55 comments Socialism is a failed idea. The history of the 20th century is a testament to that. Capitalism is so far the only economic system that allows for human freedom.

ReeshiReads (reeshi) How does socialism take away freedom? Sorry I don't know much about politics.

message 8: by Charlie (new)

Charlie (theduke-456) | 55 comments Capitalism allows for property rights, which is a fundamental freedom. Socialism does not. Capitalism is based on free exchange among people. Socialists say that property will be collectively owned, or by the people or the workers. But in reality it is owned by the state. The economy is centrally planned and the state dictates it from above, instead of letting individuals decide for themselves.

the longest lasting and fastest growing countries use capitalism

communism has failed on several different occasions

a prime example is the russian revolution

countries that use communism usually don't have market prices of how valuable materials are (eg. gold to aluminum) causing most countries to become independent and crash due to lack of support from other countries

that is why the ussr was formed, so that the countries would act as one large nation

ReeshiReads (reeshi) Ohh okay, I understand it a bit more now. Thank you for the explanation.

Charlie (theduke-456) | 55 comments The best way to understand it is to read books on the subject.

Socialism= Everyone is equal in money, rights, etc. Meaning of you earn more money than others, you get taxed more. That way everyone still stays equal.

message 14: by ReeshiReads (new)

ReeshiReads (reeshi) The idea of everyone being equal in money sounds appealing but I don't think it would work well. There are people who work hard to earn their money and others who don't. So it wouldn't really be fair.
