Susie | 4488 comments Late in the Day is my first Tessa Hadley experience, and it certainly won't be my last. Her writing reminded me of Ian McEwan when he is in form. A quiet character study that explored the relationships between two couples in the later years of their lives, Hadley writes from the perspective of a detached observer. Hadley seems to have a deep understanding of the complexities of human relationships, and she presents these complexities without judgement. I found her observations gentle, astute and thought provoking. I can't wait to get to another of her novels some time soon. Has anyone else here read her who can recommend what I should try next?

Tracy (tstan) | 1182 comments I’m adding her to the mountain of TBR. But this sounds really good!

Susie | 4488 comments I think you’ll like it Tracey. Have you read any of her other books?
