Was this book heavy on the sci fi?

Rosemarie | 273 comments Sorry to respond so late, Kelly, but I was away from wifi at times.

This book is about an expedition to the North Pole, so it is an adventure story, not science fiction. There is an interesting cast of characters, and I really enjoyed it.

Wives and Daughters by Elizabeth Gaskell

I have three books by this author, and this has become my favourite. It started a bit slowly but became more and more addictive during the course of the book.

How did you like Romola?

message 36: by Rosemarie (new)

Rosemarie | 273 comments Romola was not what I expected, since I really like George Eliot's other books.
There was way too much historical information and a predictable plot. The main character, Romola, was two-dimensional and flat. I was disappointed with this one.
