(view spoiler)[Even though I don't like Sabran I feel sad for her. I feel as sad for Ead who spent so many years protecting Sabran only to have to abandon her in her greatest time of need.

I can't wait for Ead to reunite with Loth. I'm sure he's going to be pissed with her.

Poor Tané!! That injury of hers is very suspicious and I'm starting to wonder about her past that she can't seem to remember.

I was also not that shocked that kalyda was in love with Gallian but now it makes me so disgusted to know that she raised him as her child. So gross.

I really thought Margaret was going to die. I'm so glad she didn't.

Ch. 12-- (view spoiler)[I'm a bit lost. There's a ton of characters and I don't quite remember them all. Plus I have basically no idea how to spell any of them so that's a bonus 🙃 So far tho I am kinda shipping Ead and Queen Sabran together. Tane is interesting since she was chosen to be a dragon rider. I don't really care about Tane's storyline surprisingly. I usually love dragons and riders. But there's something about her that makes me all very meh about it. And I don't really understand exactly what she did wrong.

I hope Ead can make it back to Sabran and that she will see, that Ead's only trying to protect her. But I worry that this Creed woman and her family have told the Queen lies about Ead. (hide spoiler)]

I had the same problem, keeping the storylines and people appart.

Getting into the story depended for me strongly on the characters point of view, for Ead it was around chapter 14-17, something there. Loth was definetely my second favorite, but he was closely connected to Ead and Sabran.

For Tané I didn't really care for a long time, her story was interesting and then it wasn't, that kept alternating.

And Niclay, well, he was my least favorite. I didn't enjoy his chapters that much and I have to be honest, his chapters were the ones I wasn't really attentive. (hide spoiler)]

I've been making slow progress on this one, but I should finish it in a day or two

I'm hoping Tane gets to become a dragon Rider, I love the way the dragons are portrayed, and I want to learn more about them. (view spoiler)[ I'm finding this more compelling now, some of the perspectives are picking up. I still like Eads's and Tane's the best, but oh well. The water trials Tane participated in really reminded me of the competition from Throne of Glass. I'm really excited to see where her dragon friding goes, especially because she got one of the fancy ones. Kits death saddened me, I wasn't necessarily attached to him, but I was enjoying the friendship between him and Loth. Judos death was also sad, even though we never knew her. I hated Sabran before, but now I actually feel bad for we. Her confession to Ead really helped us understand her character. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Normally, I'm not happy when a character dies, but I'm honestly glad Nicolays is dead. His chapters always dragged, and I couldnt bring myself to like him. Now, I hope we can get more on Tane, because I like her and her dragon. I'm loving how Ead abandoned the Priory, and didn't just go along with what they were doing. This is building up to a really exciting climax. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I enjoyed it, but it definitely wasn't perfect. I felt it was slow moving, and a bit too long. The ending also felt rushed to me. I wish we'd would've gotten to see Margret's wedding, I liked her relationship. I also wish we would've seen Ead's return to the priory, and how she changed it. I never liked Nicolays, but I guess I'm happy that he got a good ending. I almost had a heart attack when I thought Tane's dragon died, I really liked her. The final battle felt pretty anticlimactic, and was over super fast. (hide spoiler)]

I totally get that. There were parts that really took its sweet time to be over and then when I wanted it to last longer it's finished in the blink of an eye. I'm really glad (view spoiler)[the dragon lived because she was a fun little (huge) side character to have along the way. I also would have liked some of Ead's exile. (hide spoiler)]

This book would have worked better as a duology I think, then we would have had more time to flesh out the more interesting parts instead of editing it down to fit into an already mammoth book.
