I read this book for Week 5. A book by Shakespeare or inspired by Shakespeare.
The title is a stage direction from The Winter Tale, and the main character in the book and play is named Hermione. I think it might be a loosely based modern re-telling of the play, but since I'm not familiar with the play, I'm not sure.
I thought this book had an interesting and original take on dealing with the aftermath of rape. I loved Hermione's support system and I loved reading about the world of competitive cheerleading, especially after watching the Netflix special "Cheer Squad" which also followed a competitive Canadian Cheerleading team.
I liked the strong female characters in Hermione's life. It did a good job depicting the awkwardness that people feel around a person who has been raped. The question of how to act toward them.
