I find it utterly obscene that this criminal has been released on compassionate grounds. I believe he should be treated with all the compassion he showed to those people on the plane and below it.

A black mark on Scotland.

On a more positive note (A Major), good to see with Susanne with her own "musings" thread now...

message 3: by Savvy (new)

Savvy (savvysuzdolcefarniente) | 1456 comments We'll see if the "muse" hies forth....it's more of a rant right now!

I'm just really upset by this terrorist returning to Libya with such fanfare!

PAA flight 103 was one that I frequently worked and my ex-roommate just missed being a casuality. She had come in on that aircraft and then the crew changed for the return.
This disater also spelled the beginning of the end of one of the Best Airlines we ever had!...PAN AM

Wish you were there, we'd have fun. Might catch up later if I escape early. Would it be mean to hope for a natural disaster to prevent us all going?? just a small one with no-one hurt of course, just making it an 'UNPARTYABLE' zone!!!

Savvy (savvysuzdolcefarniente) | 1456 comments After a few more aborted attempts at uploading a picture of my world view from my home of Mt. Rainier, I've given up and search links on-line to come the closest possible...these pictures are VERY close!
We have deer in the yard daily as well as raccoons, squirrels, occasional coyotes and recently a report in the local newspaper of a pet snake (python?) getting loose in the lake! YIKES!

Savvy (savvysuzdolcefarniente) | 1456 comments No NE, we are not bears and thus are kept outside the national forests with much thanks to Roosevelt!

http://www.theodoreroosevelt.org/life...

But our view is very similar and quite safe from the dreaded 'Pirates' :-)

Joanie, the 'guest room' has fresh sheets right now!...but we do attract lots of friends and family in the summertime!

Is there a way to upload an image directly to goodreads instead of linking to another site.

Gorgeous, gorgeous view, Susanne. Mt. Ranier is the first and only time I slid down a glacier.

message 43: by Savvy (new)

Savvy (savvysuzdolcefarniente) | 1456 comments Thought I shake the muse and post a pantoum I wrote...my first one, in fact!

The pantoum is fun with all the repeat lines, and although all of my end words rhyme, a pantoum does not need rhyme as the repetitions it uses already give it it's own "poetry".

I like the way this almost carries a tune!
----------------------------------------------------
Wine's Song

Wine, tasting gaily of song
Spilling right out of a haze
This night is now too long
And turning into days

Spilling right out of a haze
Such brilliant circles of rings
And turning into days
Stealing some salient things

Such brilliant circles of rings
All gleaming with fairy dust
Stealing some salient things
Remember, I must, oh, must

All gleaming with fairy dust
To dance in shallow streams
Remember, I must, oh, must
Where lives play out in dreams

To dance in shallow streams
Or lie on grassy knoll
Where lives play out in dreams
And softly bare my soul

Or lie on grassy knoll
Watch butterflies swoop by
And softly bare my soul
Without a sigh or cry

Watch butterflies swoop by
Pausing on pink carnations
Without a sigh or cry
Sipping sweeter sensations

Pausing on pink carnations
This night is now too long
Sipping sweeter sensations
Wine, tasting gaily of song

Susanne ---

Carol | 10390 comments Do you ever compose poetry in that style?

message 48: by Ruth (new)

Ruth | 15767 comments Mod
I've written a few pantoums. Some successful, some not. I took a workshop in the pantoum a couple of years ago, from Cecilia Woloch, whose Bareback Pantoum was in Best American Poetry a few years back. I'll see if I can find a copy and post it over in our Poetry section.
