Kate (katiebobus) | 200 comments One scene from the bounty of lit I read in jr high about the Holocaust stands out that I cannot place: a girl and her friend or sister, both of whom are Jewish and hiding in an attic with their famil(y/ies), are permitted to spend a day outside as long as they stay lying on a haystack so that they are not visible to passersby. When they come in once it is safely dark outside, they have terrible sunburns, and the narrator describes herself as shaking with cold.
