C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 639 comments You have until the 17th of December to post a poem and from the 18th to around the 24th of December, we’ll vote for which one we thought was best!

Please post directly into the topic and not a link. Please don’t use a poem previously used in this group. Only one submission per person is allowed.

Your poem can be of any length!

This week’s topic is: Procrastination

The rules are pretty loose. You could write a poem about anything that has to do with the subject/photo but it must relate to the topic somehow.

Most of all have fun!

Edward Davies | 1727 comments Title : Maybe Tomorrow Instead
Poet : Edward Davies

I tried to write a poem
And I thought it might be great
So I sat down to think of ideas;
The hour soon got late

There was something on the TV
So, to get some inspiration,
I decided to watch for a while
And flicked station to station

Once I ran out of programmes to watch
I sat back at my desk
To decide if my poem would be
Romantic or grotesque

But I just couldn’t decide
If it should be this or be that
So I called up one of my best friends
To have a random chat

When I finished on the phone
And I looked up at the clock
I discovered it was past bed time
Which gave me quite the shock

So I put on my pyjamas
And I clambered into bed
I would get that poem finished
Maybe tomorrow instead.

TITLE: I'm Still Angry
GENRE: Heavy Metal Song
RATING: PG-13 for swearing

CHORUS
I’m still angry, you’re still ugly
I’m still on fire, you’re still a liar
I’m still seething, you’re still breathing
I’m still pissed, here comes my fist!

VERSE 1
I put off dealing with you for so long
Memories bubble up ever so strong
You’re no longer here, but it still hurts
To hear the words of a raving jerk
It’s not about health, it’s about control
You’re not a doctor, you’re just a troll
You’re not a hero to the world at large
You’re a criminal waiting to be charged

CHORUS
I’m still angry, you’re still ugly
I’m still on fire, you’re still a liar
I’m still seething, you’re still breathing
I’m still pissed, here comes my fist!

VERSE 2
I fed you pizza and entertained you
Imparted wisdom you never once knew
Gave you a place to sleep and be free
And this is how you fucking repay me?
A knife in the back doesn’t hurt enough
A torture table is surely the right stuff
A mind fuck forever is what you gave
Until the day I sleep in my own grave

CHORUS
I’m still angry, you’re still ugly
I’m still on fire, you’re still a liar
I’m still seething, you’re still breathing
I’m still pissed, here comes my fist!

BRIDGE
Goodbye! Goodbye!
For you I will not cry
Piss off! Fuck you!
I refuse to trust you
Sayonara! Adios!
It’s good for us both
Never come back again!
This is the fucking end!
Good! Fucking! Bye!

They never would have wound up
at that vacant filling station
except that from the ground up
they defined procrastination.

Vondel glared at Sylvester
with a scowl of utter loathing.
He’d asked what had possessed her
to have bought such garish clothing.

He scoffed at her hot flashes,
nor approved her orange hairdo,
but snickered, “Those bat lashes
sure set off your latest scare-do.”

“Police will find you strangled,”
she said darkly. Then they waited.
The sign bizarrely angled.
The wind blew unabated.
