Ares Hi, my name is Ares Navarro and I am working on my research project for my master's degree. My topic is how contemporary non-fantasy ya literature portrays how teenagers see growing up (as something terrible, positive, to prepare for, to avoid...). And I was wondering if you or someone you know may know about some titles that would fit in the category for me to analyse. I understand it may be too much trouble for you, but just a title or two, or maybe a web were I could find some ideas would help me a lot.
Thank you very much in advance,

Ares

there is this book Pearl by Jo Knowles
it may or may not apply to what you need but its a different one.

You're Welcome, Universe by Whitney Gardner
this is another different one. it follows a deaf girl which i think is unique

Hopefully these help or give you inspiration. I have a similar project so i know the frustration of finding books!

laurel [the suspected bibliophile] (laurelthereader) These websites might help. It has some solid contemporary YA novels about that deal with growing up, among other things.

I also like these two, which involve teens growing up when they get to college:

American Panda by Gloria Chao Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell We Are Okay by Nina LaCour

These are some high school books that I felt captured the experience of growing up and maturing:
Dear Rachel Maddow by Adrienne Kisner Pulp by Robin Talley

Good luck!

Thank you very much!! I actually didn't expect such a quick answer! (I have been sending messages to publishers non-stop with no answer at all...)
I will certainly look into them!
