Categories open for nomination for January 2019 are:

Sci-Fi & Fantasy and War & Travel

to help with choosing nominations, I have updated the threads containing the full list of books in each of these categories, showing which books have already been read - hopefully these are useful:

Sci-Fi & Fantasy List

War & Travel List

so let's have those suggestions...

Jackie | 88 comments I have to agree with Marilyn on the Midwich Cuckoos. I was watching an Icelandic TV show yesterday and was a little creeped out by all the actors being so blond. It brought the book to mind immediately, even through I read it as a teenager.

I was thinking nominations til 14th and voting til 24th...

Sci-Fi - I'd be happy with CampConc or Midwich

by extraordinary coincidence I am about to start One Of Ours! I could postpone til January if it looks like winning the poll though,
but will also myself nominate

for War & Travel: Kidnapped by Robert Louis Stevenson

Kidnapped by Robert Louis Stevenson

Phil (lanark) | 446 comments While I'd be happy with Midwich Cuckoos winning, it's a great book. I can't help myself from nominating:

War & Travel
When the Wind Blows
by Raymond Briggs

Sci fi and Fantasy
The Passion of the New Eve
by Angela Carter.

Pink | 12 comments I've just added One of Ours to my list of female authors to read in 2019, so I'd be happy to join in January if it wins.

both of our polls are tied going into the last few hours!

tactical vote-changing anyone...? ;o)

message 13: by Christopher (new)

Christopher (Donut) | 241 comments Well, seeing as there is a four-way tie, we have our selections for the next two months at least, right?

I have re-opened the polls until 27th

also, I have withdrawn my votes so that both ties are broken

if they go back to ties at close(!) I will reinstate my votes to break said ties!
