How early?

Hi--How far in advance of a book's publication date can it be added to Goodreads, assuming it's on the author's website (or any other criteria you require)?

There's no limit.

As long as the book has been officially announced (author's official site, publisher's official site, official Twitter account of author or publisher, etc.) there is no problem with adding it to the Goodreads database. As publication gets closer, placeholder records can either be updated with other data when that becomes available, or merged into imported records once they are created.
