I can’t believe it’s already time to begin thinking about the new year! Hopefully, you have already given this some thought and are ready to start stating your goals for our challenge in the coming year.

Since we all have different numbers of series with variable numbers of books within each series, it's impossible to set plain "number of series" goals for comparison. And, we all have different approaches to tackling our TBR shelves and series. But! We have a common objective in making a dent in those shelves.

So, tell us what you're hoping to achieve with this challenge in 2019? I'll set them up in the Reading Tracker as they're added here.

Lieke | 1125 comments I don’t have goals yet, but I’m thinking about them.
Probably will lower my amount of books to read compared to this year since I want to clear some thicker books from my TBR.

message 5: by ~ Giulia ~ (last edited Dec 22, 2019 04:06AM) (new)

~ Giulia ~ | 104 comments Last year I overdid it a little with my goals, so this time I'll keep it simple: end the year with less books on my ongoing series tbr than when it started.
Basically a variation of the good old "limit new series started" goal :P

Series books read from TBR: 37 (view spoiler)
Series books added to TBR: 50
(view spoiler)

message 6: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 2383 comments I've not done so bad this year. Actually added other challenges from other groups. Those were more difficult and effected this one.

I'll be honest and say that I'll participate in whatever looks good.
So far the trilogies is a good idea.
Then maybe add duets.

message 7: by Jessika (new)

Jessika (jessika_56) Goals for 2019:

1. Read 80 books overall
2. At least 15 of those 80 should be from my TBR 2011 and before shelf. (2011 is when I joined GR, so these books have sat unread for too many years!)
3. Finish 3 series
4. Advance in 3 series

message 13: by Barb (new)

Barb Hmmm ... It's so easy to be overly optimistic when setting goals for next year, so I'm going to try to reign it in a bit, in hopes of actually meeting these goals. Some of these will overlap (advance series and older books, for example), but I want to work on reading some of the older books in Mt. TBR instead of just the shiny new toys :)

1. Stay current in 12 series
2. Complete 10 series
3. Advance 50 series by at least one book each
4. Read at least 15 books published before the year 2000
5. Read at least 12 books by new-to-me authors
6. Read at least 50,000 pages

Christina T (crysteena73) | 541 comments Here is how well I did on 2019 Goals

My Goals...
Read at least 75 books in total of which...
I read a total of 95 books this year...so YAY me
---at least 12 being DTB already owned
Well, I only read 3 which is so terrible because I literally have thousands of DTBs
---at least 12 being audio
I did well on this on...I listened to 32
---at least 12 being old ( requested before 2018) NetGalley books
Out of the 17 NetGalleys 8 of them were requested before 2018. I requested more than 17 this year alone so I need to do way better on this goal in 2020
