C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 637 comments You have until the 10th of December to post a poem and from the 11th to around the 17th of December, we’ll vote for which one we thought was best!

Please post directly into the topic and not a link. Please don’t use a poem previously used in this group. Only one submission per person is allowed.

Your poem can be of any length!

This week’s topic is: Purple

The rules are pretty loose. You could write a poem about anything that has to do with the subject/photo but it must relate to the topic somehow.

Most of all have fun!

I'm bookish, and quiet.
A little bit of a nerd.
My favorite color is purple
And "Love", my favorite word.

You are headstrong and
Your happy is contagious.
My snow-globe heart, you see
Is very easily anxious.

Those ordinary words you say
Got me feeling like I'm flying.
Lost in the depths of you, sometimes
I wonder if I'm dying.

I have a little bit of a rain cloud.
It's always hanging over my head.
They make my thoughts a little soggy
And make it hard to go to bed.

Your heart-stopping laugh is
On a loop in my echoing ear.
Your joy, so radiantly loved,
Oh, you can never be too near.

My mind is an empty land
Without buildings of any kind.
And your thoughts I'm sure show
You are a mastermind.

Please help my stumbling feet
To walk across this soggy ground
Keep them from getting stuck,
For I am distracted by your sound.

You mute my thunder in this storm
And unknowingly shine a light.
You brighten up my path ahead.
You make everything..feel right.

Critique welcome.
Feely girly/lovey today haha

A spider, like an
antique loom, patiently wove
the dusk’s purple gloom,

the reeded stillness,
a marsh bird’s cries, cypress groves,
a rusting moonrise.

Billie Jo (jojolov333) | 232 comments Thank you guys!

I love the vocabulary you use in yours, M :)

M | 11047 comments Thank you, Billie Jo! I’m kind of slow on the uptake when it comes to commenting on poems, but among the things I like in yours are the ongoing interplay of opposites. The attraction the narrator feels for the other person comes across authentically and intensifies in effect as the stanzas progress. Very nice!

Edward Davies | 1727 comments Title : Can’t… Breathe…
Poet : Edward Davies

His face turns purple, hard to breathe
He claws, reaches pleading to us
He starts to sweat, he starts to seethe
A block to his esophagus

A misjudged candy, swallowed slanting
Will we help this dying chump?
An attitude never enchanting
Let him choke, that Donald Trump!

TITLE: The Beautiful Scars
GENRE: Heavy Metal Song
RATING: PG-13 for swearing

CHORUS 1
These are the beautiful scars
They define who you are
The bloody bruise, the purple hues
The dynamite with a short fuse

VERSE 1
It’s your mission, it’s your decision
To carry on strong and to live long
To use the shattered pieces of the past
To change the world and kick some ass

CHORUS 1
These are the beautiful scars
They define who you are
The bloody bruise, the purple hues
The dynamite with a short fuse

VERSE 2
What happened to you wasn’t right
But even so, you still have to fight
For the ones who share your wounds
Who never walked out of the hospital room

CHORUS 1
These are the beautiful scars
They define who you are
The bloody bruise, the purple hues
The dynamite with a short fuse

BRIDGE
It hurt like hell when you finally fell
But still you answered the final bell
This is your story to write and tell
Because the best revenge is living well

CHORUS 2
These are the beautiful scars
It’s time to raise the fucking bar
The blackest eyes, tearful cries
The trauma that tells you lies
The shattered bones, broken home
The many nights you spent alone
Now is the time to bite the bullet
Now is the time to fuck all the bullshit
