Terris | 2618 comments I like your list, Janet! I am also going to try to get to "Germinal" this year. I have only read one other by Zola and I enjoyed it. Happy Reading in 2019 :)

Janet (goodreadscomjanetj) | 852 comments Thanks Terris. Some of my choices are a little more modern than I have chosen in past years. The influence of PBS' Great American Reads programming.

Where the Red Fern Grows was the first book I read last year. It set the pace and standard for what ended up as a really good reading year.

Susie | 754 comments Always have to throw some Shakespeare into the mix...I agree!
Enjoy the challenge!

Janet (goodreadscomjanetj) | 852 comments Finished my yearly Shakespeare quotient. I try to read the plays first and then watch the movie if I can find it.

message 9: by Pink (new)

Pink | 6554 comments Oh you're good with a yearly Shakespeare quota, maybe I need to do the same, as I haven't read any for a while and was meaning to work through all of his plays. I also like reading, then watching a performance.

I'm just going to have my particular 'Complete Works' edition of his be my long read project for some year in the future. High risk, but high reward.

I found that I can appreciate the play better after reading and then watching it. If I was reading them alone, I would have already have quit, I need the performance to make them work
