Hope you have fun with this challenge for 2019 Janet.

message 3: by Janet (new)

Janet (goodreadscomjanetj) | 852 comments Thanks Katy. I always love the bingo challenges. I do this one plus one for another group. There is some overlap but, naturally, I cannot find books that will match for all categories in both bingo challenges. But trying to find books that fit both challenges is part of the fun.

Terris | 2338 comments Good list, Janet! I am also going in for Germinal this year. And it's interesting that we both chose a Sinclair Lewis book for category G4! I chose Dodsworth, but I've read Arrowsmith and really liked it!
I am looking for suggestions for O5, so I liked your choice of Gilead. I am going to have to look into that one :)
Happy Reading!

Congratulations Janet. The first Bingo is always exciting for me. It looks like there will be more to follow rather quickly.

Philina | 1562 comments Jurassic Park! I loved that one. It’s so much deeper than simple dino action.

Congratulations again. Which of your books has been your favorite so far?

message 15: by Janet (new)

Janet (goodreadscomjanetj) | 852 comments It is kind of a tossup between Angle of Repose and Gone With the Wind. I think Gone With the Wind is my favorite but when reading it one has to forgive things that to our modern sensibilities seem inappropriate. Remembering that it was written 85 years or so ago before some of the consciousness of interracial relations developed and about a period of time of racial strife allows me to disregard these.

I read Gone With the Wind when I was only in 5th grade - 11 or 12 years old. That might be a good one to reread. I always think that reading about past injustices is not the same as agreeing with them. Angle of Repose also sounds good. So many people are reading it and like it.
