On Writing by Stephen King - 3 stars

I think this was a case of disliking Shakespeare because of the cliches. I've heard a lot of this writing advice already, but that's probably because Stephen King said it first.

And to be clear, I didn't dislike this book. It has a lot of good tips and teaches you a basic understanding of how to write a novel. If I could only pick one book to hand to a new novelist I would probably hand them this one. He also delves into the psychological parts of writing far more than anyone else I've encountered, the blood and sweat and tears and how to keep going through them. He feels less like a professor and more like a mentor, sitting down with you over some coffee or drinks and just telling you what he knows from his long years in the business.

This book was interesting. I have read many books on writing and I did enjoy his perspective.
