Randy Harmelink | 2186 comments Just watched two recent zombie flicks on Amazon Prime Video:

The End?

A cynical businessman gets stuck in an elevator while a deadly virus has begun to infect and transform people into extremely violent and dangerous zombies.

The Night Eats The World

The morning after a party, a young man wakes up to find Paris invaded by zombies.

I enjoyed both, but there were quite different. The second is a much slower, more deliberate survivor tale.

Netanella | 2108 comments Well, I was going to cozy up to Ken Burns' The Civil War this weekend. Now I have a few alternatives! Thanks, Randy!

R.S. Merritt | 76 comments Ha ha... Streaming Zombie Movies is about where my very cultural tastes have taken me to this point now that I've watched every Zombie movie made with a budget of over like a hundred dollars.... You know you're hitting rock bottom when you're watching ones in foreign languages and the sub titles were written by someone who didn't speak English very well....

@Randy I've seen "The End?" That one's pretty good. Amazon Prime has a ton of them on there.

I think my most recent fave is Train to Busan. I’m itching to see Cargo, but I promised hubs I’d wait for him. Waiting very impatiently...

Amazon Prime Video is loaded with them. Dozens of them, maybe more.

Train to Busan was great. Supposedly, the same production company is working on another zombie movie.

I preferred the YouTube 7-minute short of Cargo over the feature film that followed later:

Randy Harmelink | 2186 comments Just saw this is available on NetFlix:

Kingdom (2019)

Netflix's Kingdom is set in Korea's medieval Joseon period where a crown prince is sent on a suicide mission to investigate a mysterious [zombie?] outbreak that leads him to a brutal truth that threatens the kingdom.

Randy Harmelink | 2186 comments I just saw that season 2 of Kingdom will be available starting March 13th on NetFlix.

Randy Harmelink | 2186 comments "Day of the Dead" Series Ordered at Syfy

https://variety.com/2020/tv/news/day-...

The network has issued a 10-episode order for a show inspired by George A. Romero’s classic zombie movie “Day of the Dead.”

The remake will tell the intense story of six strangers trying to survive the first 24 hours of an undead invasion. It is described as an ode to Romero’s famous flesh-eaters that reminds us that sometimes all it takes to bring people together is a horde of hungry zombies trying to rip them apart.

Randy Harmelink | 2186 comments NetFlix has a new Zombie series coming up on June 10th. Looks interesting. Makes me think of the British series, Dead Set.

https://www.netflix.com/title/81003028

A zombie apocalypse that imprisons participants and producers of a reality show called Olimpo, The House of the Gods. The studio becomes a shelter for those who seek salvation in Rio de Janeiro where chaos and hopelessness begin to rule.

Dead Set is still available:

R.S. Merritt | 76 comments Amazon Prime has like a million Zombie movies on it. Most of them are really horrible. I watched them anyway. I think I have a problem....

R.S. Merritt | 76 comments Loved the Kingdom on Netflix!

Can't wait for that Day of the Dead Series @Randy!

message 16: by Netanella (new)

Netanella | 2108 comments Reality Z

Season 1 Coming this Wednesday to Netflix

With Rio de Janeiro under a zombie attack, reality show contestants shelter in a TV studio, where they must deal with more than flesh-eating hordes.

Everything I've seen on it says it is pretty much a remake of Dead Set, but located in South America instead of Britain. I went to watch the first episode of Dead Set again the other day and ended up watching the first season... :)

BTW, TubiTV is a treasure trove of free (with an ad or two) zombie movies:

Netanella | 2108 comments I enjoyed Dead Set - I've watched it twice, and I normally don't watch many movies more than once. I noticed the parallels immediately - besides the superficial ones, the characters themselves are modeled after the British characters.

Still, imitation is a form of flattery.

I've been checking out the tubitv offerings once you clued me in on them...

Super excited!

Thia (thial) | 130 comments Thank you all for posting suggestions here!
I’ve watched and enjoyed almost all of them (except that Ken Burns thing - very slow - no zombies at all ;)
I’m looking forward to Reality Z!!! Thanks again!

message 21: by Randy (new)

Randy Harmelink | 2186 comments Reality Z is now available here. 10 episodes, about 30 minutes each.

message 22: by Randy (new)

Randy Harmelink | 2186 comments I've watched the first two episodes of Reality Z. It's almost a shot-for-shot remake of Dead Set. The opening credits even indicate it was adapted from Dead Set.

The characters are the same, except that the production aide that was cheating on her fiance with another guy is now cheating on the fiance as part of a threesome. The Brazilian twist? :)

I think I'm on episode 3 now. I did notice the "Dead Set" in the credits. It's solid mindless entertainment so far. Excellent for treadmill time!

message 24: by Randy (new)

Randy Harmelink | 2186 comments It pretty much followed Dead Set and then continued the story from where Dead Set left off...

I hope they have a season 2.

message 25: by Netanella (new)

Netanella | 2108 comments I started watching Reality Z, but then got distracted by family members coming over. Apparently hosting relatives after the loss of a loved one and watching a zombie series on Netflix to get your mind off of things are not compatible. sigh...

I'll try to watch later this week...
