Danielle J.S. (iamauthorjs) | 1 comments Hi Everyone!
My name is J.S. Danielle and I am a self-published Author of the His One Series: Book 1 His Perfect One and the upcoming re-release of Book 2 Perfected this Fall.
I am an FSU Alum and mother of two girls. I set out to just to write somewhat I could say I accomplished a goal, but now I feel like I have a story to tell.
My books are more than risqué but straight, in your face erotica. There’s mystery, intrigue, and horror - as well as sex. I say and tell the stories that need telling but are sometimes considered politically incorrect.

L. (talkplustell) | 1 comments Hi everyone,

My name is Lyda and I am the founder of Talk+Tell. I recently wrote a free ebook that shares 100 social media tips for authors. (you can view it here: http://www.talkplustell.com/free-mark...)

While working at corporate for 8+ years, I not-so-secretly helped authors promote their books on the side. It wasn’t until 2017 that I decided to do it full time. My goal is to help authors produce the same PR and marketing results that I helped influencers, Bestselling authors, CEOs, and major brands achieve.

So far the authors me and my team have worked with have gone above and beyond their book sales goals!

Through Talk+Tell, we have helped authors go on cross-country book tours, work with 100s of top influencers, get featured in BBC, Vogue, Huffington Post, New York Times, and more, sell 100,000s of books, attract 15k in leads a month, and become International bestsellers.

As an author, you can achieve these results too! By using PR and Digital Marketing strategies, you can sell more books, quit your day job, and become a full-time writer.

Jessica (glass_mountain) | 1 comments Hello,
I'm Jessica Rydill, a British Fantasy author, and catching up a bit late as I only just found the invitation to the group - thank you!

I'm the author of the Shaman series, Children of the Shaman and sequels, published by indie small press Kristell Ink. All the books have just been published, most recently in February.

I'm also co-host of the Speculative Fiction Showcase SFF blog with Cora Buhlert, who also does a weekly round-up of Speculative Fiction links from across the web.

Looking forward to talking to you all...

message 108: by [deleted user] (new)

Hello,
I'm Scott McPherson. I'm a Family Physician in Nebraska. I've been writing about 10 years and have five published novels (self-published by my press- Esengo Publishing). I love to write fiction but keep it real. Four of my novels (Congo Mission; A Step Ahead of Death; Witness in the Window; Ransomware and Murder) are a series called the Jack Sharp, MD novels. Jack is a Family Physician who begins his career as a military doctor then goes to Congo as a missionary for just a year. His is forever changed there where he meets a beautiful young woman but gets embroiled in a dangerous smuggling cartel.
The next novels are years later. Jack seems to be in the middle of deadly and dangerous situations. In my most recent novel, Ransomware and Murder, the local hospital is hacked and shut down by ransomware. A murder at the same time gets Jack wrapped up in danger once again.
I also have a thriller set in the coldest, driest continent, Antarctica. The balance of power in the world could be at stake. Gabe Hunter, a researcher, stumbles into a conflict that should never happen on the ice, in Crisis on the Ice.
I'm married, have five daughters and a cute Cocker Spaniel. I love to play the trombone, go for walks, and do woodworking in my spare time (anytime after 7 AM - I only write in the early morning).

Kenton Hall | 1 comments Hi,

My name is Kenton.

I've recently written a book about my experiences living and parenting with bipolar one called Bisection, which is being released through a lovely little small publisher called Chinbeard Books.

I've primarily written in short form in prose and screenplays, including a feature I wrote and directed called "A Dozen Summers".

So, the book is my first full-length and I'm just adjusting myself to promoting a different kind of work. It's an honest and, hopefully, funny tale of life with bipolar. It's currently available for pre-order from the publishers in physical copy, but will be generally available in paperback and e-book - and listed her on Goodreads - from the end of July.

I'd love it if anyone had a chance to check it out.

Best,

Kenton

Laurie Jameson | 4 comments Hi, I'm Laurie. My first novel, The Waystation, was self-published in 2017. It won an eLit silver medal in 2018, and an Illumination Awards gold medal in the Enduring Light category in 2019. I've managed to tick off a lot of Baptists with this book because I chose to approach the idea of Christianity and the power of forgiveness from a real world perspective. (So if foul language and violence offend you, this is not the book for you.) I wanted to reach people who are tired of having religion shoved down their throats...and I've been pretty successful with it. I hope to have my next novel, The Kitten, published in 2020. Good luck to all of you. Lets get writing!

Lynn Hallbrooks (lynnhallbrooks) | 26 comments Dia wrote: "Hello everyone you can call me Dia. I need some advice about self publishing I want to self publish when I understand everything but I have some stories waiting to be publish."

My advise is to make sure that it is as polished as you can make it. An editor is helpful in that respect, as is a proofreader.

After you have it as clean as possible. You have the option of going to Draft2Digital. They are wonderful in that you put your MS Word Document in and answer a few questions - if you have questions Customer Service will respond ASAP (real humans) - follow some instructions and pick out some fonts. Look it over. Of course, it's a little more complicated than that but you get the idea.

Dia,
I enjoy writing too and have self-published 5 novels. I have some experience at this and am happy to help where I can. I am not a best-selling author (at least not yet) but I have a lot of fun doing this. Let me know how I can help. My website www.scottmcpherson.com has a page that demonstrate what I've done. Do you have any initial questions?

I used Amazon (used to be called Createspace). I think I am less good at marketing but I have the publishing part pretty well in hand.
Scott

Dia | 6 comments That's great I am trying to figure do I want to publish with Lulu or amazon. Do you know any other self publishing authors who have used Lulu?

message 132: by Stephani (new)

Stephani (athenapm) | 10 comments I published two booklets with Lulu because I already had an account with them for buying books. The process was fairly easy for me because I had previously published the booklets as ebooks on Smashwords. Hardest parts were creating the covers with Photoshop and weeding out all the typesetting and alignment errors (all kinds of errors show up when you look at a print book versus looking at an ebook).

Also, Lulu's shipping costs are high when you order books in bulk. They can be almost as much as the cost of the books themselves! That's the one thing I hate about them. In late November and early December they offer 20% and 30% off discounts and one free shipping special. Otherwise, if I want to order 20 or more of my own books so I can sell them at readings and other appearances I have to pay this high price.

I've never published through Amazon, so I can't say if their publishing process or shipping prices are any better.

Samantha Dearing | 2 comments My name is Samantha Dearing, and I have created an Epic Fantasy with elements of Magic, Romance, adult themes, and an exciting plot with characters who have become very special to me.

This tale follows a woman running desperately from an unhealing hurt in a world overtaken by the restless dead. The trouble is that she may be the only soul who can free the world from the shadows that now cover it. But to do so, she will have to walk straight into the fires that scorched her spirit and battle with the Devil himself.

It is available for free on Kindle Unlimited (greatly appreciate reads from that source):
https://www.amazon.com/Healer-Mist-Sa...

I never thought I would actually be here, holding a physical copy of a book I wrote in my very own hands. It's unbelievable, But I had a story to share, and now that I know I can, I won't be stopping any time soon.

All for one,
Samantha Dearing
