Jesse Toen | 1 comments Hello! My pen name is Jesse Toen. I'm not new to the world of publishing, having been employed within the industry since I was a sophomore at Ohio State University, but I am new to the world of indie publishing on the other side of the table, as an author. I completed my first manuscript in 2017 during Nanowrimo but shelved it until I had the time to post edit and then hire someone to edit as well. Second manuscript I finished over the summer. I'm hoping to enter the world of publishing soon after the first of the year either with an agent (fingers still crossed) or as a self-published author. I'm excited to see what everyone has to say and to read about your experiences and advice. Thanks for inviting me to the group!

Thanks for inviting me.

Julie Watson (bornformidwife) | 1 comments Hi Everyone,

I have been a bit slow to introduce myself so here goes. I am a New Zealander who has written and self-published two memoirs. They are called Born for Life: A Midwife's Story and my recently published book, Born for Life: Midwife in Africa. The first book is about my life and I wrote it as a cathartic exercise. My second baby died at birth and it was very traumatising but through my struggles and journey I became a Christian and went on to become a midwife. My second book is about my time volunteering as a midwife at Kalene Mission Hospital in Zambia, Africa.
Thank you for listening and I look forward to connecting with you all.

Pandora Spocks (pandoraspocks) | 1 comments Hello!
I'm Pandora Spocks and I'm a self-published author of contemporary erotic romance. I currently have eight novels and one novella on Amazon, iTunes, B&N, Kobo, and the other usual places.

Rannigan's Redemption is a three-novel romantic law drama. My Dream Dominant Collection, a series featuring light BDSM themes, currently includes four stand-alone novels (Luke & Bella, Lost & Bound, 2017 New Apple Medalist in Literary Erotica and 2018 Golden Flogger Award Winner, For Sparrow, and Warrior Mine) but there are more in the works. 2018 New Apple Summer eBook Award Medalist in Literary Erotica, Chasing Ordinary is my modern-day adult fairy tale, and Just One Night is my naughty little summer novella.

I'm currently at work on a three-book series of stand-alone novels, Redheads & Ranchers. Book 1, Jenny's Voice, will be out in early 2019.

Thanks so much for having me here!

message 70: by Kerry (new)

Kerry (kerryebblack) | 1 comments Nice to find you all! I'm Kerry E.B. Black, and although I'm more of a short story and flash fiction writer, mostly in the speculative genres, I've recently published a YA novel called Season of Secrets through a new press called Rhetoric Askew. I'm working on the sequels for it. I've also a collection of short, mildly scary stories called Carousel of Nightmares published through a local boutique press called Tree Shadow. Like most writers, I love to read. I enjoy meeting "Scribbling siblings" and reviewing their work (though I don't enjoy romance and erotica. Horror, historic fiction, and quality kids lit are my main jams! In fact, I review horror for The Bold Mom.)

Looking forward to the collective wisdom of this group, especially people's insights on marketing. Stephani (athenapm) | 10 comments Hello Everyone:

I'm Stephani Maari Booker, and I'm newbie indie publisher. Last year, I published an anti-oppression nonfiction booklet written by a late, great friend of mine (bringing it back into print a couple of years after we lost her). As a dry run to that publication, I first published a booklet of two excerpts to my science fiction novel manuscript that had previously been published in anthologies.

Both booklets were first published as ebooks. As of this year, they're now available as print books as well.

message 99: by Hank (new)

Hank Quense | 33 comments My name is Hank Quense and I just joined this group. I write satirical fantasy and scifi. Early in my writing career, I was strongly influenced by two authors: Douglas Adams and his Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and Joesph Heller’s Catch-22. Happily, I've never quite recovered from those experiences.

I live with my wife in northern New Jersey, a mere 20 miles from Manhattan, the center of the galaxy (according to those who live in Manhattan). We have two daughters and five grandchildren all of whom live nearby.

For vacations, Hank and Pat usually visit distant parts of the galaxy. Occasionally, they also time-travel.

Besides writing novels, I lecture on fiction writing, publishing and book marketing. I'm most proud of my talk showing grammar school kids how to create a short story. I've used these lectures to create an advanced ebook with embedded videos to coach the students on how to create characters, plots and setting. The target audience is 4th to 7th graders. The book's title is Fiction Writing Workshop for Kids.
