theDuke | 6516 comments Round 11 noms to date:

203. Songs about a particular sport - sports heroes/villains, sporting wins/losses, sporting events, etc - must be recognisably about a competitive sport (e.g. "Nightswimming" is ineligible) - Val
204. Two single words - single-word song titles by bands/solo performers whose name is a single word (Kiss, Buzzcocks, Beck, etc.); so Beth by Kiss would be acceptable but Help! by The Beatles wouldn't - Gordon

From 2nd Dec: *Cream Of 2018 rounds*

2019:

206. MFSB - Mother, father, sister and/or brother in song titles. - KJS

BJH became a trio in 1979 after Woolly decamped. Gordon's video is from 1987, so should be ok. The original recording from '72 wouldn't have been. 😛

message 22: by Gordon (new)

Gordon (skiiltan) | 2940 comments Thanks Tim. The only BJH albums I find listenable are Concert for the People (Berlin) (1982) and Glasnost (1988), both after Wolstenholme's departure.

I thought Rush would be too obvious, although there are loads of their tracks I would like to nominate (Afterimage, most obviously).

theDuke | 6516 comments Hi folks.....look er..would someone be willing to take this thread over for a couple of weeks for me please?

Edited: Have trimmed this down a tad...now that I've got me emotions back in check again... I was rather in a poor state of mind last night.

I'm suffering an extreme reaction to a rather nasty headcold virus, my sister accidentally brought with her on Friday eve last. I've removed my emotionally shot scribblings....but just to say....i'm really not well at the moment. Sleep deprived, rest deprived, my nerves shot, physical pain..especially both my legs, plus my emotionally screwed up head. I'd developed some extreme weird symptoms to this strain of headcold virus, ….which..in the space of 3 days, has essentially left me anxiety emotionally & physically exhausted. So need to recover for a while.

message 24: by Val (new)

Val H. | 22399 comments Between us I'm sure we'll manage the thread. The important thing is to get you better. Do you have a phone service you can call, like Nurse On Call, where you can talk to someone and get some advice? Do you think you might be having an adverse reaction to some medication you've taken? This is more than a head cold. I hope you can get to the doctor's quickly. Do take care Duke - you first! Don't worry about us.

Sj Brooke | 2524 comments Hey Dunc, Sorry to hear you are struggling so badly!
Are you taking any medication for this, say Ibuprofen or Paracetamol
The reason I ask is that recently I found I had to stop taking Ibuprofen because they seemed to be reacting badly with my BP tablets, causing me to have panic attack symptons and breathlessness when trying to sleep and soon as I did away with the Ibuprofen I could get some sleep and felt back to normal.
Basically if you are on any meds then get them checked out
And as Val said Dont worry about the blooming threads!

Heya Val...sorry for late reply....doing this really carefully..i haven't taken any drugs beyond paracetamol & ibuprofen...both meds I've used for years.

I haven't got a clue what's causing this, my sister also had sleep deprivation too..but none of this anxiety weirdness, I've been experiencing. The only small blessing (I hope), that this is meant to be a hit & run strain, therefor short lived effects.

I'm going to docs in the morning...mum has decided to kip in the lounge where i'm trying to stay tonight & rest the legs...the PC is providing some useful distraction for today at least. Yesterday was just nightmare.

Hopefully finally get some sleep....but not happening yet

Hi SJ, yes..it's all I have currently....both meds I've used for years...I've never had any bad reactions to either...so far. I think..it must be psychological….though goodness knows why i've reacted like I have...I've always been a easy going chap....weird.

Well....while i'm able to focus on my laptop for now, thought best to mention my situation...…..I'm still stunned by what has just happened....I know I like my hippy dippy stuff folks..but never been one to want to go through a lysergic acid trip, myself!

Got an appointment in 50 mins..with my GP...so will see what he says....I really need something to pacify my nerves and maybe some mild sedatives. Mum thinks I may have developed some secondary infection somehow...and has suggested I ask the docs for some anti biotics...but we'll see what he says.

I'm gonna delete my earlier posts, just to tidy things up.... I didn't want everybody thinking i'm a basketcase! Absolutely knackered yeh….but just about hanging on to me marbles!

Hi..yes..the doc gave me a packet of 5mg diazipam..which is what I hoping for. Not being the type of person to pop pills, i 've got these as a 'insurance', just in case the anxiety comes back in force at any time...Nice to know that i have it ready anyway.

Right now..a change of scenery anyway but the house is what i need...my feet may not thank me...but i can live muscle fatigue, than the emotional rollercoaster ride to hell, that i just took a ride on these last few days!

I'll leave things in Spacepig's capable hands for this week..see how i am in a few days time. Thanks everybody!

I thought about this Lez...i went to GP, wearing a paper mask! I've no desire to cause other folks to go through what i went through! Home visit system in Wales doesn't quite work as quickly as one would like in Wales Lez....sometimes have to wait weeks for a home visit....i rather needed something a bit quicker!

I've now got me meds.

message 41: by Val (new)

Val H. | 22399 comments Glad to hear things are slightly better now Duke. As you say, having the meds is like having a safety net - good to know it's there if you need it. Does the doc think the cold is the culprit? Any idea why it should affect you this way? For what it's worth, my recipe in the short term would be Aspro Clear (unless you are allergic/on blood thinners, etc), loads of Vicks on the chest and up the snotter, a hot water bottle and a cup of hot Horlicks then bed. Of course all the liquids will probably have you up peeing in the night but any sleep now is worth it. Hope to hear that you're feeling much improved soon.

That's some weird s*** you've got going down, Duke. There must be some 'value added' bugs around this year. A couple of months ago I saw a letter in the paper from a woman whose husband went deaf when he had a cold. This caused great irritation, and then the same thing happened to the wife.
