I’m still relating to Frances. She’s overdressing, over stressing and falling in love with people who are nice to her. Large and awkward, trying to “fit” in. My favorite quote: “They were on my skin for an instant, but it was as though one of the bones in my hand had been healed by Peter’s touch; a bone I hadn’t been aware was broken.”
I’m having a hard time believing anything Cara says. Every thing just seems like an elaborate tale to either hide from her real self or make people think she is more interesting than she really is.
Yes! I think you are right. The older I get the more I realize everyone is self-conscious and no-one is always confident and secure in themselves. Some people, usually the beautiful ones, are just better at hiding their insecurities. Cara is one of those I think.
I, too, am having a difficult time believing Cara. Being a clinician I also wonder what types of mental health issues she may have, I’m picking up a bipolar vibe. I found it super strange that she didn’t say anything about Peter when Frances asked how they met. I’m really eager to find out more about Victor.
So I said I found the first 3 chaptersTo be slow, but now I’m fully entrenched! I’m loving how the characters and relationships are slowly unfolding. I’m so interested to learn more about Cara. Of course, there’s a bipolar vibe about her but I wonder if that’s true at all. I have suspicions but I need to read a bit further to see if I’m on the right track.
This story is becoming much more interesting. Cara is one of those people who needs attention to distract herself from the reality of her life. I’m wondering how her friendship with Frances will play. I suspect that Frances will be hurt.
