Could it be Alien Child
?GR's description isn't really helpful, but one review says: "Alien Child is a young adult book that follows a human girl named Nita who is being raised by a catlike creature, Llipel, in the remains of a medical institute. Llipel’s companion, Llare, stays holed away from them in another part of the institute that she’s not allowed to access. Nita begins to believe that she’s the last surviving human on Earth as she learns more about what happened to the rest of humanity and how she, a human girl, came to exist in a world where humans no longer roam. Then, she discovers that Llare is actually raising a human boy of the same age named Sven."
That is it! Wow my memory was way off thinking that the main character was a boy. But now that I see that book cover..that is it! Thank you so much!
The story is told from the perspective of the human boy in this book. He describes the alien to have fur and have cat-like shaped eyes. I can't recall if the whole face was catlike. The alien creature was described a very tall and slender and had black eyes.
The alien creature cared and fed the human boy...allowed him to play in a garden, which was either in a spaceship or a spaced age bunker of some sort. The human boy also thought he was the only human left from his planet. Until later in the book he meets a human girl in the garden.
Thats when they both learn that they are to help bring back earth. I can't remember if there was DNA of the animals to help rebuild the earth as well. (I'm not sure if I am mixing some Titan AE in there.... as it had the same sort of premise)
Anyways. I would like to find the title and author of this book, so I can purchase it and reread it.
