On President's Day in the waters off of Manhattan Beach, a racist scuffle, now referred to as the "incident" exposed a dark side to the localism customs that dominate surfing.
It spurred a racial reckoning in the surfing world.

Inactivity is the fourth biggest killer in the world - yet it's barely discussed.

Visitors to a brewery in Austria can relax in a pool of beer. It is claimed that the beer is beneficial to the skin, but visitors are advised not to drink it.
That’s such a weird story. That sounds like such an Australian idea, and I can’t wrap my head around the chemistry. 🤔

I am reading about the Cold War. Although it was well under way when I was born, I consider it my war, as my parents did WW2. I did not fully appreciate the horror of the Cuban missile crisis, but I did realise how scared many adults were.It went on for a long time, and now, after a short lull, we are into a "cool war" with Putin's Russia.

If you don’t mind the diversion, I’d like to bring up a discussion on mathematics in literature. It’s not common and I’d like to get some input from other writers, especially fiction writers.I’ve introduced novel counting methods as part of the lore for my work after finding a YouTube video that shows some of the diversity of counting and representing numbers on Earth. I know it’s a very niche subject, and not all readers and writers will look at numbers in this way, but I feel it’s a field that’s not very well fleshed out in fiction, and I’d like to get everyone’s take on it.

Indeed. It has been developed over thousands of years. The first written record of it was painted on Stonehenge, but unfortunately that was removed by the Romans.

Of course Philip was also revered as a god-like spiritual figure by some in UK. May he rest in peace.

Found in the blurb for a literary magazine ..."Among its pages you may also encounter a river people and their god, a bridge between the living and the dead, redemptive friendships, Bird’s Eye potato waffles, a stolen bottle of extra-virgin olive oil, Antigone and Dominic Cummings, three kinds of goodbye, several toads, a badger, a racist fish and a wren shrieking in existential dread."

Casual conversation has been all but eliminated in the pandemic. Whether you love small talk or hate it, science shows that the lack of it has an impact on your mood and energy—and can contribute to burnout. More here: https://t.co/JoQ4I8FmOg 1/5 #COVID19
I love small talk! But not tiny talk. And sometimes I like to debate the big questions, like can fish be racist?
