I know! Crazy right? They say there are 120 copies, so that helps, but still. The movie must have made everyone in Raleigh decide it would be a good book to read.

Yeah I'm doing that one too. I loved Frankenstein, hope this one is good

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6626 comments And wow, #349? Not a good sign.

Teri | 678 comments I also have never created book of the month questions, though I have participated in the discussion questions part. So if they need someone to do questions as a back up, I know there are people, but I am willing to give it a go, though I worry I will ask ....not great questions, but I'll get the hang of it I guess. I did Grey Sister and Red Sister and I was like oh I never would have thought to ask those questions! *blushes*

Stacey (boydsmom) | 1387 comments On another note -- How are we supposed to find candy corn as a genre??

message 211: by Teri (new)

Teri | 678 comments Candy Corn we can use "treat"

message 212: by Teri (new)

Teri | 678 comments Not sure if that will be easier, I haven't looked yet! If anyone finds some that work, please post them, even if you can't read one, maybe someone else can. Thanks

message 218: by Jessi (new)

Jessi (jazzykitty) | 1644 comments I am currently reading A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, #1) by George R.R. Martin on audio and should finish that on Friday (I can listen to audio books at work!) I should also finish Children of the Shaman by tomorrow and then I will start Black Crow for the genre. Funny how crow is in the title but no where to be seen on the tags!

You're really rocking it this week, Jessi, thank you =)

I had to finish up some books that ended another challenge the past two days that unfortunately do not count for this one. Now starting today it's all about this one again - a relief.

The good thing about starting this week and finishing next week, versus starting before the first week, is your books will still count the weeks you finish them :) It was only the books started before the challenge began that couldn't count at all. No rush as long as you keep checking in.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6626 comments How was everyone's Halloween?

We had a poor turn-out. Had fun with mom, aunt, and cat in the driveway....but not many children this year.

Just happy to do my part :)

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6626 comments That's a lot of points / page count, so that's a big part!

I've had a sinus headache for two days which makes my eyes super sensitive. I've had to take a lot of reading breaks, but have been working through it. Started Storm Born today officially and don't see it taking long consider the genre and it's good so far. Same for Primordial. Cannot 100% promise I will finish Big Little Lies in time but will try. If only work and homelife didn't interfere with all this reading possible time...

MID-WEEK UPDATE

⦿ Currently we are doing great. We have completed our first world early in the week, earning the once-a-week 15 point completion bonus. We have completed the word Crow four times on the official spreadsheet, and are on our way toward the fifth.

⦿ There's a few books that still need added to member bookshelves -- if you don't see your completed book on the official spreadsheet, that may be a reason why. Please double-check! I have been highlighting the books in Blue on our planning spreadsheet if they need to be added to bookshelves as well. These books cannot be moved over otherwise.

⦿ Our first BOM will be starting on the 4th (Crazy Rich Asians). I've been chosen to do DQ's, but please participate in answering daily questions for an extra 20 points each book. It's a hard book to get from the library and such due to its popularity, but if you can nab a copy somehow it looks like a good one.

⦿ We have completed two of our bonuses this week, and the other two have been reserved.

⦿ As a reminder, you can mark a book complete on the spreadsheet or the Books Completed thread - you can do both, or just one, it is your choice. If you ever see your book missing after a day or so from the official spreadsheet, drop a note in here and Teri or I will check into it and hunt it down.

⦿ All books must be marked as finished by 4:00 PM EST THIS Saturday for it to count for this week's word, CROW. Please see HERE for when the second week starts this Saturday/Sunday.

This is really helpful to have here. In California, Daylight Savings ends this Saturday night/Sunday morning so we set our clocks back one hour.

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 2373 comments Erin, I'm going to read Oklahoma Christmas Blues (The McIntyre Men #0.5) by Maggie Shayne Oklahoma Christmas Blues today that I put on the SS all by its lonesome and it covers an O, so if you want me to I can put it where your Oklahoma Christmas Blues is and I'll have it done today. So far no one has completed their book for that CROW word though. I know I'll be reading my Beautiful Masterpiece (Thin Red Lines, #1) by Gen Ryan Beautiful Masterpiece tomorrow and maybe finishing Saturday (on time), depending on an appointment I have tomorrow.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6626 comments Yeah, ours here in Florida is also ending Saturday night/Sunday morning. We are gaining an hour here as well.

Thanks, Vicki. Some of the books may be moved around on the Spreadsheet on Saturday to give us the most points, so point placement today doesn't matter as much as it will then. We will rearrange if needed later when it's the day to submit.

Headaches are no fun! Hope you feel better soon! I'm surprised I've managed to read this much considering I work full time, have a seven year old, and Halloween stuff going on.

Hopefully I can explain this without confusing myself lol. You are one hour behind central time (chicago is central time) so you will start week two at 4pm your time.

This makes you two hours behind est (eastern time) so you will need to have your books finished by 1:30pm your time.

I don't know where they make countdown clocks but I think there will be one somewhere within the challenge discussion.

message 239: by Cecily (new)

Cecily Black | 1805 comments 1:30pm is all I needed to know, I probably could have figured it out but my brain was just done lol.
Thank you for letting me know!

I am just about to finish my "O" book, I just spent the night reading instead of watching tv. Unfortunately, I now need to read something good because that was a pretty boring night story wise LOL

Reading an "R" Book next!

message 240: by Cecily (new)

Cecily Black | 1805 comments Also, I went to put Crazy Rich Asians on hold at my library and I am #223 on 39 copies lol so probably not going to be something I get to before this whole thing ends lol

Right now we are okay in varying. We have a lot of finished - and unfinished books - so I am not worried about any particular letter per se. Crow is a pretty small word and we can always switch things around before submitting tomorrow afternoon if needed. Just read whatever you're in the mood for right now.

I think there's something about these challenges that kick the reading into gear.

I've finished three but stalled the past few days. I was hoping to get reading caught up at lunch some today at work --- but guess what? Flat tire. I had the low tire pressure light come on while driving but the car felt fine and I figured it was a weather thing that was no big deal. Park in the lot at work, get out and see the rear is very, very flat. My mom's coming to eat lunch with me now, so she can let me use her car and take mine to the shop. Weird way to start a Friday but thank God for great moms!

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6626 comments Cecily wrote: "Also, I went to put Crazy Rich Asians on hold at my library and I am #223 on 39 copies lol so probably not going to be something I get to before this whole thing ends lol"

Well, a bit of bad news with that - they posted the schedule, and it looks like they are only using three names to do daily questions. Our team isn't on there for those 40 points, but I will still answer questions for the 20.

I know that from the last game they like us to answer a few daily questions, up to three days, and I know a few more here will be reading it so it will work out.

Hopefully you are able to get a copy soon

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6626 comments We have now completed 3 of the 4 weekly bonuses - Stacey finished hers last night. Once Jessi has completed hers, we will have all four done - way to go, team :)

We have five complete words - the sixth word will be complete once we get another W finished.

Remember tomorrow is the last day to update - let's aim for 3:30 - 4:00 PM EST.

Thank you so much for checking in, Natasha. We all have weeks where we don't have quite as much reading time - as long as you keep checking in, it's appreciated. Thank you. :)

message 247: by Natasha (new)

message 248: by Jessi (new)

Jessi (jazzykitty) | 1644 comments I should finish Children of the Shaman soon. This book has been a struggle the last 50 pages or so. It started off well and has just gone down down down down since... ugh

message 249: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 2373 comments I'll have one of my books done very shortly. Then I'll start my last one I committed to for this week. If I have time to read one more, I will.
