An amazing story for children with few, but beautiful, illustrations that truly enhance the story.

A true story of friendship between Ivan a silver-back gorilla and the few other animals in the Exit 8 Big Top Mall and Video Arcade. Ivan states he works there, he is the gorilla. His two best friends are Stella, the one and only elephant, and Bob the transient dog who doesn't belong to anyone. It isn't really a circus but is somewhat circus-like in that Stella performs during shows. Ivan doesn't perform, he is too much Gorilla and too little human.

The story is from Ivan's point of view. His backstory unfolds and it is hard. He has blocked oiut some of his history. He's smart and artistic and that is recognized by his human friend Julia and her father a maintenance worker at the Exit 8 Mall.

The story is filled with pathos and also kindness. It is based, in part, on a true story that piqued the author's imagination. Two of my grandchildren have read it and enjoyed the story, as did I.
