He wasn't paying to much attention at this point, only enough to keep up with her. Trying to figure out which way to head to be on his way, but he pulled himself from his thoughts as he looked up at the building curiously. He was starting to feel something was a bit off, he was just hoping he was being paranoid. But then again he had learned to trust his gut feelings.

Avalon glanced at him, grateful he hadn’t caught on. “I can lead you to whichever end of town if you’d like.” She offered, listening. She heard a small noise from the building but paid it no mind, tucking the coin back in her pocket. After a little longer of walking, an older guy began following behind them. Compared to Avalon, he looked like a beast, tall and stocky, a bit older than them all. He kept an eye on London for a moment, sizing him up and trying to figure out why Avalon had called him down.
"Right..." He said slowly, following after her. "Thanks." He hadn't noticed until they were a bit away from the building that they were being followed. He wondered what her game was, trying not to let on that he knew. He didn't have much so they weren't trying to rob him, but he wasn't one to just let things happen if he could help it. "You never told me your name."
Avalon heard the footsteps behind them and relaxed slightly. She knew that the man would keep an eye on london and would listen, deciding if he could be let in to their resistance or not. If not, they’d just let london go on his way to wherever he wanted. “Oh. My bad.” She shrugged. “My name’s Avalon.” She answered.
"Avalon." He repeated, nodding his head thoughtfully. "Nice to meet you." He sighed as he stared forward for a moment. It had been so long since he interacted with an actual person, he was having a bit of trouble. Maybe he was just being paranoid because he had been alone for so long, that was what he was thinking at least. He wasn't very good with conversation.
Avalon glanced up at him and watched him for a moment. “Where’s your head at?” She questioned, her own weird way of asking what he was thinking. She didn’t expect an honest answer but it would at least continue their quiet conversation as they walked around.
"What?" He blinked not understanding what she meant at first, but quickly shaking it off as he realized. "I uh....was just thinking of where to go from here." He ran a hand through his hair thoughtfully. "North, south." He looked each way as he listed them. "I hear they both are more Zombie free then most places. "But who knows, it might just be another rumor."
Avalon nodded as she listened. “Well the north does have less. Mainly because there’s nothing out there for a ways. Just fields and farms. Not many people or anything.. also not much in supplies though I’m guessing.. why do you keep traveling? Do you have a home somewhere that you go back to?” She asked curiously
He looked down at his feet at her question, not saying anything for a moment.
"No." He said simply at first, but elaborated after a second. "I don't have a home anymore. "It was one of the first places to get hit, and I was one of the handful of people to actually make it out alive." He closed his eyes tightly for a moment before he quickly changed the subject, not wanting to think about it right now. "I might head north then."

Avalon bit her bottom lip, listening as he explained. “I’m sorry. At least you got out.” She said gently to him, seeing how it upset him. “Alright..” she said quietly, biting her lip. She glanced back to the man trailing them, silently asking if they wanted Avalon to get london to stay. When they nodded, she glanced back to London. “You don’t have to go.” She commented quietly.
He was luckier then most, he thought to himself. Before he heard what she said, very much confused by her words.
"What are you talking about?" He looked up from his boots back to her, lifting an eyebrow curiously. If there wasn't anything here why would he stay? His suspicious nature kicking in again for a minute.

Avalon rolled her eyes at him. “Do you seriously think there’s nothing here?” She asked in response. She hoped he wouldn’t be that dumb and would figure that there was obviously something here. Why else would they all seem cleaned up and healthy, or be patrolling. She didn’t tell him though, waiting to see what he thought first.
He blinked, he had been thinking about it. She was way healthier then most and out in a city crawling with Zombies. He realized he had figure it out a little while ago. He just hadn't connected it until now.
"Wait, so your saying you want me to join you?" His eyes widened, it wasn't another rumor. They did actually exist, and one of them was standing right in front of him.

Avalon shrugged. “We need numbers. You seem healthy enough and haven’t gone crazy on us so we think you’d be alright. You don’t have to though. Feel free to travel up north if you don’t wanna stay.” She answered, leaving the option up to him. She had convinced others to join in the past and always tried to use the same tactic of figuring out where they were going and stuff first before trying to decide if they should stay or not.
"There really isn't any other place for me to go." He admitted to her. And besides that, he knew he wouldn't have enough food to last until he managed to maybe find some more. "I would like to stay." He nodded his head once as if to solidify his resolve, if it meant a safe place to stay he would happily help them.
Avalon nodded. “That’ll mean you’ll be doing some jobs though. We all pitch in around here.” She told him, wanting to make sure he knew what he was getting in to, even if he’d already agreed. She kept walking with him, starting to lead him back towards the base.
"If that's what I have to do." He wasn't worried about working, he was use to that. But he hoped that he could show he had more skill then just doing some odd jobs. He hadn't exactly showed that earlier, but he hoped he would be able to prove himself. He was handy with more then just a knife.
Avalon nodded slightly. “Alright. Anything we should know about? People after you or whatever?” She asked softly as they continued back to their home base. She kept watch around them. Even if it was quiet right now, it didn’t take much to attract zombies and have them frenzy or attack.
"Um..." he blinked thinking about the latter. It had been awhile, but he still thought it would be worth mentioning. "I was part of a group...awhile ago. "I left them, after I found out...well lets just say I didn't agree with the way they were running things. "They weren't to happy about it." He shook his head. "But it was a long time ago, I doubt they are still looking for me."
Avalon nodded. “Alright. That doesn’t sound like it’ll be a problem but good to know.” She Agreed, looking around as they neared the police station and the surrounding buildings. This area of the town was decently safe, lots of people and not many zombies, if any. She led him to the police station and quietly opened the door.
He glanced around the area, trying to get a feel for where they were. A police station was definitely a good place to have a base, and from the look of it they had reinforced it pretty well. He hadn't heard any zombies for awhile either. He felt slightly nervous though as he walked silently through the door with her, how would the others react to a stranger walking in.
Avalon shrugged st him as they walked in. The main area was set up with just some tables and chairs, looking like just a general gathering area. A few people there gave some odd looks towards London but didn’t question it since Avalon was there. “So come on. We’ll have you put down your name and then we can get you set up with a bunk and show you around.” She told him, leading the way to one of the rooms that used to be an office.
He nodded and followed behind her, feeling the eyes on him. He did his best to ignore it.
"You guys have a pretty good thing here." He commented as they continued on. He had to wonder just how far they stretched though, if they did more then just patrols around the area. But those were questions for another time. Maybe after he got a better lay of everything.

Avalon nodded. “We tried to make it and the surrounding area and a road as safe as possible..” she shrugged at him and headed into the office. They had a big map of the general area on the wall along with a few other maps piled up on a table. She grabbed a thick notebook off a shelf and found a pen as she flipped it open. “We just try to keep track of who all is here. Can you write your name and age and stuff?” She asked, offering the book and pen to him.
"Sure." He took the pen from her and set the book down on the nearby table. He clicked the pen and put his name and age and whatnots, into the correct spots. They were definitely organized, but that was probably a good thing. They seemed do do everything that way. Once he was done, he clicked the pen again and handed both of them back to her.
Avalon waited quietly, glancing through some of the other papers on the table. “Thanks.” She said, taking the book and putting it back. “So for like sleeping quarters, we’ve got a ton of rooms set up in the buildings around here. There’s usually just a couple people in each one but lots of people are gone right now so we can set you up nearly anywhere.” She explained to him. “I’m usually not in charge of showing people around once they get here.. sorry.”
He would worry about the other people he would end up bunking with later, for right now he wasn't going to worry about that.
"No problem." He shrugged it off. "I'll be alright." Though he had gone from not seeing anyone for a long time, to being with a bunch of people like that. It was a bit jarring, and he was still trying to wrap his head around it all.

Avalon nodded. “The other offices are like conference rooms if you ever need a place to chill without a bunch of others. I know this is a bit adjustment.” She commented. She then fell quiet, giving him a chance to process and ask any questions or whatever else.
It would be an adjustment period, but he was good at adapting.
"Okay, well if you don't mind me asking." He said giving a sort of embarrassed smile. "Where would I be able to get some food?" He felt a bit strange to have to ask, but he hadn't eaten in a few days.

Avalon nodded. “Oh. Right. That would be a good place to show you.” She Agreed. She led him out of the office and down the hall, through another door and down a staircase. “So. A lot of this place is founded on trust. So a decent amount of food is just stocked down here. Feel free to help yourself. We typically end up cooking dinner most every night of whatever, depending on who all is here and what we’ve got.” She explained to him. She shrugged slightly once they got downstairs. What used to have been a few jail cells had been converted into a cellar with a decent amount of supplies; food, tools, weapons, other necessities, etc. There was also a few workbenches set up so people could repair weapons or make more arrows, sharpen knives, etc.
He followed her down the stairs, they really did have this place all set up nice. He wondered just how long he would have even made it if she hadn't shown up. He doubted it wouldn't have been but a second longer and he would have been zombie chow. Or being dragged kicking and screaming to the compound. He looked around the converted cellar as they got there, a pretty good stock. His stomach grumbled low as he sat the food.
"I will only ever take what I need." He promised her. "And I don't need much." He had been going this long on not much after all.

Avalon nodded. “Feel free to help yourself then.” She said softly. She went over to some of the weapons, grabbing a few more arrows and adding them to her quiver. She ran a hand through her hair tiredly.
Walking over to the stash of food he looked it over, he decided on a few small cans of beans and and pulled his backpack off putting them inside. It was really more out of habit then anything, as he put it back over his shoulders.
Avalon stretched her arms above her head, walking back over to London after a moment. “There’s bathrooms and showers upstairs. I don’t know where else you’d like to be shown to or anything. Our leader should be back in a few days so you can probably just take it easy for a few..”
A few days of doing nothing? He wasn't so sure he would be able to deal with that, he was use to always doing something. Even sleeping not more then a few hours. He wouldn't be able to just sit and do nothing.
"Well, would you mind if I went on one of your patrols?" He asked hopefully.
"Well, would you mind if I went on one of your patrols?" He asked hopefully.
“No. I wouldn’t mind..” Avalon shrugged slightly. “I’m typically out all day. My route is one of the bigger ones so as long as you’re good with that, you can come with. I’m gonna be heading back out to check some stuff right now.” She told him. “You can stay here and get settled.
"Thanks." He smiled glad he wouldn't be here practically by himself doing nothing. "I suppose I'll see you later then." He situated his backpack again. "Might as well find my bunk then." He guessed he would get that out of the way now.
She nodded slightly. “Alright. I can show you to them if you want..” she offered quietly. She didn’t want to leave him stranded without knowing where to go or anything.
"Sure." He was feeling a bit out of place here, everyone probably was wondering why he was allowed in as they walked back up and passed some more people, he didn't look like much and he knew that. He would have to prove he would be an asset rather then just a burden.
Avalon nodded. She led him back upstairs and then out of the building. She looked around and crossed the street to a multistory building that looked like it might have once been a motel. “There’s usually like 2-3 of us in a room, depending on it. There’s space in my room if you wanna bunk there or you can join some of the other guys or whatever.”
He bit his lip for a moment as he thought about it, she was the only one he knew. But he didn't want to make her uncomfortable either. But he thought he might as well ask.
"Well if you don't mind me bunking with you." He shrugged.
"Well if you don't mind me bunking with you." He shrugged.
Avalon nodded. “Alright. I don’t mind. I’m barely in there..” she shrugged. She led him into the other building and up the stairs quietly before down the hall to where her room was, a sticky note on the door with her name on it. She opened up the door and led the way inside.
It seemed as though they were just expanding to the buildings next store. Which was smart. He followed her up to the room and stepped inside. Looking around he nodded his head thoughtfully. He was actually just relived to have an actual bed again. He walked over and set his bag down beside the extra bed.
"So if you don't mind me asking." He said looking back over to her. "Have you always been apart of this?"
"So if you don't mind me asking." He said looking back over to her. "Have you always been apart of this?"
Avalons room was simple and clean. It had two beds, one neatly made and the other rumpled like someone had slept on top of the blanket. Other than that, there was a table with a couple chairs at it and a dresser and a bookshelf. She glanced over at London, setting her crossbow on the bed. “A long time..” she answered simply, willing to elaborate a bit if he wanted her to.
He looked at her curiously sitting down on the edge of his new bed.
"Since everything started?" He asked lifting an eyebrow curiously. He knew if he had really known about all of this, he would have tried to join a long time ago. They were the last few legs of what society use to be.

“Just about yeah..” Avalon nodded. “We found others and stuck together. Ended up here after a while and it had the right resources to make it permanent unless we get found again. In which case, we pack up and try again. But weve been here for a while so I think we’re okay.” She answered.
"Wow." He said impressed, mostly that they had managed to keep going this long, and not be caught. A lot of the bigger settlements had tried the same thing, but in the end they were always caught and eaten or dragged to the compound. Seemed like they were doing something right.
“Were all spread out. I think that’s mainly why. “You saw like ten people here. We only have like 25 at the max.” She explained. Avalon sat down on her own bed and glanced at him. “When there’s too many, some of us head out and go do longer expeditions or head to another camp. It varies.” She shrugged and set her bag down.
"Well I'm here to do what I can to help." He nodded his head determinedly. "I owe you anyway." He gave a small smile. "And besides I probably would have just ended up dying somewhere else." He said quietly, taking in a deep breath.
Avalon nodded slightly. “I figured as much.” She Agreed to the first thing he said. “That was kinda the point of saving you, to keep you from dying at all right now or at any time soon, if it can be avoided,” she added with a shrug. “There’s not many of us left. We don’t want it to become none of us..”
