First and foremost, I would like to say to you (Vincent) that I was looking for a way to email you to make sure this post was appropriate but was unsuccessful. I am sure I could have found it if I looked harder perhaps. If this is not appropriate to post here PLEASE accept my sincere apologies and delete. However, since the purpose of this group is to help authors connect with readers, I thought it may be ok. I have a group that I have been absent from for about a year because of a serious illness. It still has over 500 members and needs a boost. I have a section for authors to promote their recent releases, older material, give-a-ways, etc. If any of your fabulous authors (including yourself), would like to discuss any of their material or post any promotions please visit the "Casual Readers" group. Thanks, and like I said previously, if this is inappropriate I apologize.

A book I have read "Dare To Dream" by Diane Mira. The e-book is free for a couple of days from tonight. It tells the story of how a young girl in the Philippines overcame rejection by members of her family as a young child and all the traumas she suffered during her life. It gives hope to us all in finding out how, with determination and prayer, her dream came true. An excellent read.
It is available on Amazon. The link to her Amazon site is -

Elli Hunt | 14 comments Elli P Hunt
This a gripping and powerful mystery about a woman who disappears from her home without a trace of what happened to her. She lives in a small rural community in southwestern Wisconsin where crimes mainly consist of parking and pumpkin smashing.

So often we are lured into a false sense of security with the attitude that it couldn't happen here or to me. It is the perfect setting for sexual predators where people seldom lock their doors. Easy pickings for one predator who can't resist taking advantage of the naivety after finding his target.

On an pleasant afternoon, Abi is picking the last crop from her garden, enjoying the colorful scene around her. His eyes follow every move she makes, waiting to pounce on his unsuspecting prey.

Later that afternoon, her daughter Lynn comes home eager to tell her mom about the float her class is making for their homecoming celebration. She is mystified when there is no sign of her mother anywhere, soon the community is searching for Abi, but there is no clue what happened to her.

I'm looking for readers who are willing to provide a review of my debut mystery novel. The Kindle edition will be free on Amazon Nov. 1st thru the 5th. I hope you would consider taking advantage of this opportunity and leave a review, thank you very much,
Elli P Hunt, author of Stolen, (Lynn's Story)

The Breadwinners A Family Saga by Jan Hurst-Nicholson

An epic family saga set in South Africa.

A spurned lover marries for money and ignites a family feud of betrayal and revenge that spans three generations.

It is New Year’s Eve 1924 and the fiery and volatile Charles McGill is devastated when the woman he loves announces her engagement to the mild-mannered Lucas Connelly, his friend and co-worker. Charles drowns his sorrow in drink and seduces Hilde Richter, the spinster daughter of a wealthy businessman.

When Hilde finds she is pregnant her desperate father offers to set up the penniless Charles with his own bakery if he will marry her. Charles readily agrees and, unknown to Hilde, the two men draw up a contract. It is the beginning of a bitter rivalry between Charles and Lucas, and their vengeful former employer, Miles Davenport. A rivalry that fractures families, tests love and loyalty, and comes at a cost that Charles could never have imagined.

The Breadwinners covers six tumultuous decades and leads us through the ruthless and cutthroat business dealings of the three families as they survive the great depression, the war years, the isolation of South Africa and the advent of company takeovers. If you like historical fiction set in exotic locations, and enjoy authors such as Barbara Taylor Bradford, Catherine Gaskin and Belva Plain then grab a copy of The Breadwinners.

Jim Hamilton | 190 comments I've enrolled The Chaos Trilogy in the Kindle Unlimited program on Amazon.

"A trilogy of exuberant and lucid tales ..." — Kirkus Reviews.

For the next three days, the Kindle version is FREE through Friday, March 29th.

The Chaos Trilogy is three stories about the past, present, and future of humanity as it struggles to rise above its natural proclivity for self-destruction. From the dawn of the Sumerian Empire to the sunset of the Shoomaran Empire, this is the chronicle of how it finally succeeds.

If you like pulse-pounding carnage, sex, and gore, then this is definitely not for you.

On the other hand, if you like light-hearted Sci-Fi that resolves conflict and political situations with ingenuity instead of violence, you will like The Chaos Trilogy and its related works.

Download a copy and read it now ... or save it on your bookshelf for later.

Thanks and Happy Landings!

message 32: by Grea (new)

Grea Alexander (greaalexander) Greetings Goodreads Authors!

I am hosting 2 group giveaways on Prolific Works (formerly Instafreebie) and StoryOrigin: one Horror and one Historical Fiction. It’s a good, FREE way to expose your work to a new audience. Some authors use these group giveways just for exposure. Some use it to build up their email/newsletter lists. Others still use them to gather reviews.

These promotions will run for the entire month of May (during which participating authors will offer a free download to readers). You can either give away an entire work, a short story related to your book(s)/series, or a preview/sample that includes a chapter or more of your work. If you are in Kindle Unlimited, you are permitted to offer up to 10% for free and still be in compliance with your obligations (so I’ve heard).

Both PW and SO offer free accounts – the main difference being that StoryOrigin will allow you to collect email addresses at the free level and Prolific Works will not. Simply create a free account, upload your “books” and click the applicable link below to join the giveaway. You can join on one site. You can join on both. Each has their own audience/authors.

I’ve found the easiest way to get an .epub, .mobi and .pdf all at the same time is to create a “sample” book on Draft2Digital and simply not publish it. D2D will automatically convert anything you upload into all 3 formats. Once in the preview, all you have to do is download each.

Each author who participates is responsible for promoting the giveaway in whatever way works for them – the theory being that the more authors who participate and promote, the more exposure all of the authors who participate receive.

Information on each of my giveaways is below:

Horror Giveaway

This is a Horror giveaway.

The only requirement to join this group is that your book is Horrific in nature.

All horror sub-genres are welcome as are works of all lengths: full length novels, novellas, short stories, previews/samples, etc.

There is a maximum of 3 books per author, please.

In addition, please share this promotion as much as you can during its run time and via whatever platform works for you: newsletter, social media, Ouija board…seance, whatever.

You can require names and emails from readers or you can not. It’s completely up to you.

That being said, welcome aboard!

Historical Fiction

This is a Historical Fiction giveaway.

The only requirement to join this group is that your book is Historical Fiction in nature. For the purposes of this promotion, let’s go with books set in a time period that is at least 50 years in the past (pre-1969).

All historical fiction sub-genres are welcomed including those with time travel type elements (as long as at least 60% of the story takes place in a historic time period(s)).

Works of all lengths are welcomed: full length novels, novellas, short stories, previews/samples, etc.

There is a maximum of 2 books per author, please.

In addition, share this promotion as much as you can during its run time and via whatever platform works for you: newsletter, social media, carrier pigeon…sky writing, whatever.

You can require names and emails from readers or you can not. It’s completely up to you.

That being said, welcome aboard!

Jamie Stewart | 69 comments Greetings, Goodreads Authors and Readers.

I am happy to announce my brand new nightmare is available through Amazon worldwide this weekend. GO GET A COPY! The blurb for this tale can be found below:

It’s Halloween. For the residents of Denison Street that means face paint, costumes and swapping horror stories. Or at least it used to be.

Last year Logan Conway went missing while Trick or Treating. The police have no clues, no suspects and no leads.

Some say The Reaper Man did it.

Others say he’s an old wive's tale. Logan’s mother, Jane, disagrees. So much so that she’s invited The Reaper Man back again.

Trick or Treat is a story about the 'perfect, safe suburb' and the perception its residents can take towards one of their own threatens that perfection when tragedy strikes, it's about grief and one mother's determination for revenge. It is perfect for fans of works by Stephen King, Neil Gaiman, Joe Hill, Shirley Jackson, and Mike Mignola.

Hi folks!

Just wanted to let everyone know that my interview with E. C. Stever has been posted on his blog ( It was a pleasure interviewing with him and I encourage everyone to check out his spec-fiction books. I thoroughly enjoyed Non Metallic and I’m now reading Dragon Removal Service. It’s based on one of those ideas you wish you’d thought of—but E. C. Stever did.

To celebrate my first interview ever, I’m offering The Sword and the Way ebook free on Amazon from now until Wednesday 4-17-19 at 11:59 PM. A heartfelt thanks to everyone who already grabbed it—and you might want to grab it again while it’s free because I recently added a character list, glossary, and Xaichen pronunciation guide I hope will be helpful to readers. Not to mention a new cover, courtesy of E. C. Stever.

If you favor complex plots, multiple POVs, swordplay and skullduggery with a touch of humor and romance from a Biblical perspective, you might like it. Martial arts enthusiasts and/or fans of the old Kung Fu TV show starring David Carradine might also get a kick out of it. (See what I did there?) If you do enjoy it, please rate it and, if you have time, leave a quick review.

Thanks so much!

Rita Chapman | 502 comments One for horse lovers, from teenagers upwards!

Winston – A Horse’s Tale
Winston is a good-looking palomino horse whose life involves several different owners and many adventures. As you read his story, told by Winston himself, you will appreciate horse ownership from the horse’s point of view. Born on a country property in Australia, Winston tells of his breaking-in and education and the different people he encounters – good, bad and ignorant. As well as his own story, Winston includes the experiences of other horses he meets along life’s way.

Whether it’s jumping, eventing, hunting or just hacking, Winston tries hard to please his rider. Follow his successes and his failures from his breaking-in to his show jumping win. It is an eventful life – the story of one Australian horse out of thousands, but one that you will remember.

Susan Shalev | 7 comments Hi,
My name is Susan Shalev and I have recently published my first book Of Bitter Herbs and Sweet Confections, a fictionalized memoir, based on real-life experiences. The book presents the story of Tanya, a Jewish teenager, as it unfolds over a ten-year period from 1939 to 1949. Tanya's exile, far away from the death camps of Europe, is a Holocaust novel with a difference, which opens a unique window on to a lesser known facet of this horrific chapter in history.

The book is highly recommended on Amazon and here on Goodreads.

In honor of Holocaust Martyrs and Heroes Remembrance Day (May 2) I am running a free promotion on the Kindle ebook (May 2-5).

I hope you enjoy the book - and review it.
