Charlie Grant’s older sister is getting married this weekend at their family home, and Charlie can’t wait—for the first time in years, all four of her older siblings will be under one roof. Charlie is desperate for one last perfect weekend, before the house is sold and everything changes. The house will be filled with jokes and games and laughs again. Making decisions about things like what college to attend and reuniting with longstanding crush Jesse Foster—all that can wait. She wants to focus on making the weekend perfect.

The only problem? The weekend is shaping up to be an absolute disaster.

There’s the unexpected dog with a penchant for howling, house alarm that won’t stop going off, and a papergirl with a grudge.

There are the relatives who aren’t speaking, the (awful) girl her favorite brother brought home unannounced, and a missing tuxedo.

Not to mention the neighbor who seems to be bent on sabotage and a storm that is bent on drenching everything. The justice of the peace is missing. The band will only play covers. The guests are all crazy. And the wedding planner’s nephew is unexpectedly, distractingly…cute.

Over the course of three ridiculously chaotic days, Charlie will learn more than she ever expected about the family she thought she knew by heart. And she’ll realize that sometimes, trying to keep everything like it was in the past means missing out on the future.

Through Chapter 3...Funny book. I love how the siblings all pick on each other. JJ and forgetting to send an email for someone to pick him up from the airport and being pissy about it. LOL.

I liked the paper girl too!

Read through Chapter 8 so far. I am enjoying the book but I feel that the sibling dynamic is falling flat for me. I definitely want to keep reading though!

Agreed. I think it is trying to be humorous but doesn't quite hit the mark as much as it could. I come have lots of siblings and find the banter to be funny to us but probably not so much to others.

I would say my favorite characters by far were JJ and Billiam :P JJ made me laugh in every scene he was in (DJJJ anyone) and definitely felt the most "real" out of the siblings. Bill made me since he was so sweet and always ready to help Charlie with anything (wedding related or not). Charlie, however, drove me crazy throughout most of the book with her high expectations for the wedding, her siblings, and her relationship with Jesse. I'm guilty of this myself so that might be why it drove me so crazy but I felt like she was just setting herself up to be disappointed in herself and others. I did enjoy her character growth in the end and I felt like she really matured.

I was not expecting the emotional impact this book would have on me. The scene in the living room nearly brought me to tears and was one of my favorite scenes in the book because of how accurately it portrayed family complications. Sometimes it all falls apart, but that doesn't mean you have to stop loving each other.

As for the romance, I really hated Jesse. HATED him. He seemed manipulative to me as there was no way he hadn't picked up on Charlie's crush on him and I felt like he was leading her on when he had no intention of keeping up a relationship with Charlie, True, he was honest with her in the end but he still bothered me SO MUCH.

I absolutely loved Bill though! He was just so sweet and jumped in well with the Grants. Whenever Charlie would freak out, Bill would quickly be able to calm her down and help her solve the problem. I loved all their little adventures from going to find an officiant to dancing in the supermarket.

What is up with Brooke? I think Danny is making her unnecessarily uncomfortable. And Mike..perhaps since he is friends with Jesse it that is is no good too? (hide spoiler)]

I think Charlie realized her place in the family wasn't what she thought it was. She was the youngest but the one her sibling relied on. I thought they way she handle Jesse, Brooke, Sarah was mature beyond her years. I was really annoyed at her parents though. They never took charge of anything was upset when things were combative. Aren't parents supposed to run interference? I had exceptional parents so maybe it is my idealism.

Though JJ was humorous I would have killed him after 1 hour. Though, DJJJ would have been better than any Journey cover band.

Who loved Waffles? I did! Loved when he howled at the alarm and kept barking at the ceiling.

All ends well and on to the next chapter for Charlie. I was proud of her for walking out on Jesse. (hide spoiler)]

I think Charlie is a little bratty and I have no idea why the family was SO upset about Brooke staying there. I thought the sibling dynamic got A LOT better toward the end, and you will be happy to know I no longer think Charlie is bratty. I loved what she did at the end for Brooke. I was really shocked that her parents were getting a divorce. I am soooo glad she kept in touch with Bill because I was really routing for him. Jesse was just an asshole from the get go plain and simple (hide spoiler)]
