Nominations are now open through September 8th for the October Wild Card.

The purpose of the Wild Card is to choose books that fall outside our usual rules by being more on the ‘genre’ side of things (e.g., sci-fi, fantasy, YA, romances, westerns, graphic novels, etc.) but still of literary interest. More about the Wild Card can be found here:

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Voting will start on the 9th, and the discussion will run Oct 15-Nov 14.

Nominating Guidelines:
- One nomination per person
- Fiction (originally published between Jan. 2000 and Oct 14, 2017)
- Wouldn't normally fit in our Open Pick

If you are nominating a book, please begin your post by stating "I nominate [name w. hyperlink to book]".

Sorry, Robert. While the publication date of The Complete Maus is 2003, it's a compilation of 2 books published in the 80's and 90's, so doesn't qualify. (Otherwise an excellent choice, though.)

Bretnie | 702 comments I nominate The Three-Body Problem, which people keep telling me I should read, but I haven't read.

Edited: Darnit, I think you guys already read it.

I really liked this book. Did you know FX is doing a mini-series?

message 12: by Linda (new)

Linda | 71 comments Ooh, I didn’t know there was a tv series in the works of The Changeling. Thanks Whitney! I really liked this book as well, I listened to the audiobook read by the author earlier this year.

message 13: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (ashelfofonesown) | 12 comments I didn't, Whitney! I've been meaning to pick up the book pretty much since it came out but I keep putting it down. Even if it doesn't get picked for the readlong I must read it before the show comes out/before I watch it.

In the interest of not causing another tie, I'm refraining from voting for my own nomination.

You should vote for your own nomination in order to prevent a tie!
