Jane (PS) | 21312 comments 1. Introduce yourself to your team. Let your team members know where you are from. This is a great to know when categories are announced and when team-mates can expect other members to post their book choices.

2. Team Captain - reserve a couple of posts in this thread tracking your team's book selection and completion. (Alternatively they could convert a chat comment to the tracking post/s.)

3. Name your team. Using this round's theme of GILBERT & SULLIVAN, come up with a fun name. We are an open/public group with no age limit, so please make sure any chosen name is smart, not smutty ;)

Please PM your name to Jane(PS) by 5 September.

4. If you have a private profile, please 'friend' your team-mates. This is really important, because without this, your team-mates can't see your shelves to select a books under option 2.

5. Please post your book selections/completions in the format provided below. (This format is also posted in both the Q&A and Sign-Up threads.) We need to know the week that each book corresponds to, the page numbers, and how the book qualifies including links to lists/shelves (where applicable), etc. I can't stress this enough. When in doubt - link it*!

* don't link to your review in your completion post - reviews in your completion posts should be included in full in that post.

You don't want to start reading a book and then find it doesn't meet the requirements because some information (eg page count or theme link) was missing from your original post.

I will be monitoring this and your book will not be considered complete until I am satisfied that your selection and completion posts comply with the format rules of the challenge.

Remember - you can ONLY change your book selection in the week that the theme is called.

6. You MUST check in with your team each week, ideally once the theme is announced. Please let your team know if you expect to have spotty communication or are on holidays or having an operation.

7. When you post the completion of your book, you must post a review; enough for us to know you have actually read the book. Please don't link to a review. You must post the review in this thread.

8. Re-reads are allowed but you can't read the same book twice within this challenge.

9. There is no prize for the winning team - bragging rights only :)

10. Each week, the theme will be announced in the Q&A Annoucement thread. The full list of themes announced during this round will be maintained in msg 1 of that thread.

The Rule on the Pass Option
* Each team can only have ONE member using their pass each week.
* Each member can only use that pass once each 5 weeks.
* This means that one or two team members (dependent upon the size of your team) will miss using a pass in each 5 week block.
* No-one can use the pass option in the last week of the challenge.
* In the final week if Option 2 is used, members must select their book from another team. This will be advised in the week 11 announcement.

If the theme is based off the bookcover or a letter in the title etc, please just repeat the theme.

The format for selection posts Option 2:

Name of the team-member, their star rating, the date they read the book.

Format for completion posts:
Week #
Bookcover/link

Jane (PS) | 21312 comments I'll be tracking each team's progress separately, using the Captain's summary in each team's thread to check for accuracy.

MountainKat | 23425 comments Hi all! I can't wait to find out who I'm teamed with this round. I've played every round of the PtP and even been on the winning team a couple of times. It's all about speed for the last call!

I'm Kat. =) I live in the boonies of SoCal, so Pacific time here. And yes we have boonies in SoCal. I am up in the mountains, so every trip into town is an hour drive each way including trips for groceries. Lots of listening time in the car for me. =) I've been married forever to my hubby and we have three grown kids and now three grandkids. Though it could be said I'm just a big kid at heart since I would prefer to spend all my free time at Disneyland, you know when I'm not reading!

About 99.9% of what I read is romance and there isn't much that is off limit for me genre wise, I do need my happy ending though! I'm really looking forward to this round.

UnusualChild{beppy} | 1142 comments Hi, everyone.

I’m beppy. I live on northern British Columbia, and right now I’m on Pacific time. When daylight savings time ends, I will be on Mountain time.

I grew up with no electricity and running water (no, I’m not that old), and we were two hours from the nearest town, so I completely understand where you’re coming from, MKat.
I don’t have much for hobbies other than reading, and I don’t have any SO or children to insist on attention or food, so I read a lot. My TBR is HUGE and I enjoy using this challenge to help whittle it down. Of course, I NEVER pick up more books from this challenge, lol.

I read just about all genres, and all sub genres of romance.

MountainKat | 23425 comments Hmmm, hmmm, hmmm... ~twiddles thumbs~

Maybe everyone is away for the holiday weekend?

Well, I've been trying to think of names and I think I must be in a weird mood because this is what I came up with:

The Pirates of Pen's Pants
Princess Ida Rather be Reading
Patience (A Virtue?)
The Grand Duke's Library

message 17: by Lauren (new)

Lauren loves llamas (laureninca) | 157 comments I'm giggling outrageously at Pirates of Pen's Pants.

Hi, I'm Lauren, and I'm in the San Francisco Bay area, so another Pacific timer. I'm married with two little kids - the oldest just started kindergarten and the oldest will be starting preschool later this year - so I fit my reading in during naps and after bedtime. I'm also a big Disneyland fan, and my husband and I (and kids) will be spending our 10th anniversary there in a few months.

I read pretty much anything, but I love my HEAs, so I keep coming back to romance.

Chiara | 726 comments Hey everyone!
I'm Chiara and I'm from Italy. Which means I have a "slightly" different time zone compared to the majority of you! ;)
I'm currently in GMT+2 (Central European Summer Time), so I'm 9 hours ahead of those of you who are living in the Pacific time area!
I live in a small town of central Italy, in Marche region, not too far from Rome, and I enjoy the peace and quiet we have around here :)

I work full time and last year I had the insane idea to enroll in University again for a 2-year master, so my schedule is quite crazy sometimes!
I can totally relate with Beppy, 'cause I don't have children either (if you don't consider my 2 cats!) and no SO at the moment, so I spend quite a bit of my free time reading! My TBR is ginormous and it mainly consist of romance books. It's my first time trying the Pass the Parcel challenge so, please bear with me!

Great names ideas Kat! I especially loved Princess Ida Rather be Reading and The Pirates of Pen's Pants :D

~Melissa~ | 1995 comments Hi all ~ excited for this round to start. I'm Melissa ~ I live about an hour outside of Chicago. So CST for me. I'm married with 2 kids. My oldest just started his freshman year of college at University of Missouri (and came home for the holiday weekend so haven't been on GR that much this weekend), my youngest is a junior in college working on getting her license this year along with a part time job of some sort. I work full time and fill my free time with yoga, exercise and reading. I used to read mostly romance but within the last year I've switched it up and read more mystery, thriller, suspense type books with some romance books thrown in. I read both MF and MM. Just like the rest of you ~ the TBR grows and grows with every team challenge I do :)

Kat ~ I love The Pirates of Pen's Pants

Ezi Chinny (ezinwanyi) | 2657 comments Hi 👋🏾
I’ve played before. I think I know everyone so I’m excited to be on the team with you all.
I’m live in Dallas though originally from Chicago. I’m a wife and mommy of 3. Work and kid activities keep me busy but reading is my escape.
It’s almost midnight and I’m watching US Open and Milman just shocked Roger Federer. Now a bit of television. Nothing beats going to work on 4 hr sleep.

I’m romance only. HR was my first love but I find myself listening to a lot of NA. I’m picking about my stories. I love angst. But hate stories where sex takes over the story.

The names are hilarious 🤣

Let’s have fun

Hi, Melissa.

I live north of Prince George; closer to the BC/Alaska border than to Vancouver. Sometimes it feels as though we have never ending winter up here! We had our first heavy frost last night.

Option 1
11. Read a book with an MC who was an orphan or is homeless ~ from one of the following lists:
Gay romance featuring an orphaned MC

UNICEF defines an orphan as a child under 18 years of age who has lost one or both parents to any cause of death. So I've added two more lists:

MM single parents

If you use Option 1 your book MUST be chosen from one of the above lists.
