Helen Gaskell | 6 comments I'm looking for a typical modern romance about a woman left a failing bookshop by an old lady - she lives above it. The lady's direct relative (good looking grumpy man) wants to redevelop the shop. She has a set period to turn it around, and turns it into a shop specialising in romances (great idea in my view). She gets another woman to open a café in it, falls in love with the good looking grumpy man, happy ending. Can anyone help me find this book? I want to know who the author is so I can find a good holiday book.

Mai | 1276 comments The Little Bookshop of Lonely Hearts by Annie Darling came up in a quick search and it sounds just like your description!
Once upon a time in a crumbling London bookshop, Posy Morland spent her life lost in the pages of her favourite romantic novels.
So when Bookend’s eccentric owner, Lavinia, dies and leaves the shop to Posy, she must put down her books and join the real world. Because Posy hasn’t just inherited an ailing business, but also the unwelcome attentions of Lavinia’s grandson, Sebastian, AKA The Rudest Man In London™.
Posy has a cunning plan and six months to transform Bookends into the bookshop of her dreams – if only Sebastian would leave her alone to get on with it. As Posy and her friends fight to save their beloved bookshop, Posy’s drawn into a battle of wills with Sebastian, about whom she’s started to have some rather feverish fantasies…

Helen Gaskell | 6 comments Yes! Thank you so much! It's one of those books you pick up for a couple of quid in the supermarket and read in an hour but in this case it was very well written. Thank you so much - your search skills are so much better than mine!

Mai | 1276 comments Sounds like a cute story! I'm always jealous when I read books about bookstore owners but then I remember that retail hours are usually terrible... Plus if I had access to free pastries/food all day from a bookstore café I'd weight 600 pounds!!
I'll add it to my "to read" list. And the good news is that it's a series! :-)
