KarenLee Hi! I've just joined and will not attempt to read 50 books by the end of this year, but instead have set a goal of 20!

I am currently reading Firewall by Henning Mankell. For any mystery fans, Henning Mankell is a Swedish mystery writer. His main character is a policeman in a medium sized town in Sweden. I have enjoyed all of the books in this series. I believe Firewall is the 7th book.

KarenLee I finished Firewall yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it. I will continue to read this author. 4 stars.

I started The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. I am enjoying it.

KarenLee 73) Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese. I found this to be an extraordinary book. It is a book about relationships. It is about the relationship between parent and child, between mother and father, and between twins. It asks the question "What is a family?", and is a "chosen" family significantly different than a "born into" family. It also explores the relationship between friends, between doctors, between doctor and patient. All of the characters are believable, though not always likable. (see my review for more)

I am now reading The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo.

KarenLee 74) A few days ago I finished The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I loved the book and have requested the 2nd book in the trilogy from the library. I am now reading the Book Thief. Very interesting book and well written, but it makes me nervous. I keep waiting for the bad stuff I'm sure is just around the corner. My next read will be The Glimmer Palace. I got this book free as a First Read and am excited to start it.

Kristine (tanteteenie) | 217 comments The Book Thief is such a beautiful book. Yes, there is bad stuff, but so much good stuff too! I have read it three times and I would do it again... (I am starting The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo very soon!)
