Perhaps a story from From the Heart of Darkness? I recall one about a monster killing soldiers, but not the 'get him in the cell later' portion.
Hi, I'm sorry for not taking the time to respond before. Anyway, thank you all for your replies.The details I hadn't mentioned before are:
The protagonist had 2 teammates, I think one of them was his superior. Not sure if they were the only people left on his unit or if there were more people but didn't have any impact on the plot, anyway, those two were the only ones that mattered.
While waiting for the helicopter to arrive, the teammates go into the jungle to pee or something like that, after a while the protagonist goes looking for them and finds them having sex. The protagonist is surprised by this and while he was still in shock the monster shows up and kills them. Besides killing them, the monster also mutilates them by cutting off their penises.
Later, during the trail, after the vietnamese man's testimony, the jury concludes the protagonist went temporarily insane from the shock of seeing his teammates having sex, so he killed them and mutilated their penises.
At the end, when the protagonist's corpse is found his penis is mutilated too.
I hadn't mentioned this because I wasn't sure if dealing with such topics was allowed here.
After reading the description, Head Hunter looked promising, but it seems like it was published in january 2014.I read this story in 2003 or 2004 (14 or 15 years ago, I was a bit off in my original comment). And it was in a small local mexican public library, so I highly doubt it was a very new book.
Also, I'm not sure if the monster decapitated it's victims (maybe it did but the whole penis mutilation thing had more impact on me and eclipsed it).
From the Heart of Darkness? Maybe, I would need to get the book or find individual reviews for each story.

Anyway, I'd like to find the name of a story (or its author) I read 15-20 years ago in a small local library in my old city.
I keep saying "story" because I think it was just a short story within a book containing several of them. Then again, maybe I'm wrong and it was in fact a very small book, my memory is very fuzzy about this, sorry.
The story is about a soldier in the Vietnam war, he and his team mates are in the jungle waiting for a helicopter to pick them up, but a monster pops out from the jungle and kills his team mates, he manages to escape on the helicopter just in time.
I don't remember much of the actual description of the monster, but I remember the image I formed in my head was something similar to the Xenomorphs from Alien. One specific detail I do remember is that the monster had long fingers with several articulations, or something like that.
SPOILERS
When the protagonist returns to America he is judged for the murders of his team mates. He creates a story about what happened without mentioning the monster (he knows nobody would believe him). But then it turns out there is a witness, a Vietnamese man who blames him. The protagonist is found guilty and sent to jail.
In prison, the protagonist concludes that the witness was in fact the monster (because there was nobody else there).
Some time later the protagonist is found dead inside his cell, mutilated in the same way his team mates were found.

I remember more details but they are of sexual nature and I don't know if it is ok to talk about such things in here. So, for the moment I didn't mention them.
I hope somebody knows about this story and can shed some light about it.
