The Siberian permafrost has recently given us preserved mammoth, bison, big cat, woolly rhino - now a prehistoric horse.
This foal is thought to be a different subspecies to today's wild horses or primitive horses.

Borneo cave paintings may be the oldest ever depiction of an animal. I'd have thought Africa, where drawings have been found in the north, but Borneo while now an island would have been joined to Eurasia by a landbridge during the Ice Age.

As permafrost thaws more animals are being exposed. Latest is a wolf, or parts of it, found last month.
