C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4309 comments You have until the 29th of August to post a poem and from the 30th to around the 4th of September, we’ll vote for which one we thought was best!

Please post directly into the topic and not a link. Please don’t use a poem previously used in this group. Only one submission per person is allowed.

Your poem can be of any length!

This week’s topic is: You'll Live

The rules are pretty loose. You could write a poem about anything that has to do with the subject/photo but it must relate to the topic somehow.

Most of all have fun!

Words are aweful.
They can create anything.
With one sentence, I can break the world.

And you can kill me with a single word.
What describes a broken heart?
Who decided that you can die from one?

The world is indifferent to such things.
That’s why words exist.

One minute, we’re having fun.
Then, you tear my heart out while acting like you’re in pain.

I love words.
They make it easy to be practical.
After all, you proved me right.

You’ll live without me.

Poet : Edward Davies

There’s things in life that damage you
Or put you in harm’s way
You think they’re tough, but mother says
You’ll live another day

A friend decides that they hate you
Such cruel things they might say
You won’t survive, but mother says
You’ll live another day

You scrape a knee, or take a fall,
You blubber with dismay,
You think you’ll die, but mother says
You’ll live another day

Soon mum won’t be there anymore
And life feels dark and grey
Remember what your mother said
You’ll live another day.
