Fallout -> Roadside picnic.
Not very obvious, but this is the title of Arkady Strugatsky and Boris Strugatsky novel that used the wods stalker, which became a title of popular game set in Chernobyl with some references to Fallout game series

First-->Channel
A book title First Channel (Sime~Gen Book 3)
by Jean Lorrah and Jacqueline Lichtenberg
an obscure series that I really really like
https://www.amazon.com/s/?ref=nb_sb_n...
And actually the first chronologically, so start there if you are interested.

Black Hole --> Neutron Star by Larry Niven. But this is more than one word so how about just work off of Neutron (trying to get back to the game rules)

Neutron --> Proton
The planet where Stile, the main character in Piers Anthony's "Apprentice Adept" series, carried forth.
Proton > Chaos
A reference to Cixin Liu's "The Three-Body Problem" and its relationship to chaos theory.

Chaos -> Engine
Long story short, The Chaos Engine is a Nintendo game from the early 90s, believe it or not inspired by Sterling and Gibson's Difference Engine.

Troopers==Star Wars (Storm Troopers yes? "Aren't you a little short to be a storm trooper?")
And Jeff, I agree with everything you said about Starship Troopers
And after a extended search--8 minutes--found Starship Troopers in iTunes back up. I forgot how much I liked this song

"Aren't you too short....."
A few years ago at Alamo City Comic-Con, there was a guy costumed as Galactus. Not a bad homemade costume, but the guy was probably about 5'6". I thought to myself, "You'd think that a guy who eats planets would be taller."

The rules of this game are very simple:
- the theme of the game is Sci-fi (and of course novelists of the genre themselves)
- a player must reply to the previous post with a word that they associate it with.
- the association, while not strictly obvious, shouldn't be the first thing that comes to mind
- in case the association is too far-fetched, feel free to explain your train of thought in two words (or ask for an explanation )
Once we've reached the goal of at least 100 entries, there will be a lottery for every member who participated in the game.
