The "history" presented in this book is, while heavily researched, portrayed in a style that makes it more akin to novels. How did this affect your reading of the book?

Ever since In Cold Blood was published the nonfiction book that reads like a novel has had its own market. Sometimes I wonder if the authors are underestimating their audiences by doing it, but anyone who has read a book by a British historian knows how impenetrable nonfiction writers who are not skilled at writing can be, so I think it is fine. No one can learn by reading if the book is too difficult to understand.
