Ratings are good, but it could also be quite derivative. The first book sounded a lot like "Two Mules for Sister Sara".

Could be intentional/homage to base this series on JW movies?

I read them on KU this summer. I liked them well enough to read all 7. The main characters, the AIs, the search for Earth while being pursued were not heavy reading but fun escapism. I gave them 3 and 4 stars. In my rating system,

3 is an average book (which most books are) and 4 is above average. I give 5 to books I would own in hardcover if I had my choice and would re-read.
