Marcus didn't get where he is today by being nice to people. An intelligent, quick-thinking and shrewd businessman, he built his empire through sheer determination and downright ruthlessness. Those who know him through work hold him in good stead, he's a man who always gets the job done, who clears up his own messes and is more than capable of doing what has to be done. Though not entirely arrogant, Marcus does pride himself on his charming disposition and his ability to get his own way through the art of persuasion. He's a dangerous man both in and out of the boardroom and his business record is testament to that. Marcus does consider himself a family man, though his children might disagree. He's always provided for his kids but unlike his wife, doesn't spoil them to the extent she does. There is a much darker side to Marcus' personality and it is one he likes to keep out of the papers. He's fairly hot tempered and prone to fits of rage, this married with his manipulative nature has made him quite a difficult individual.

Marcus was born in Glasgow, the first child born to Lawrence and Daphne Aldridge and one of two heirs to the Aldridge family fortune. Like all of the Aldridge children before him, Marcus grew up on the extensive family estate just outside of the famed Academy. Though the family funds were limitless, Marcus' parents did their upmost to protect him and his brother Charles from becoming spoilt. Both were sent to the prestigious academy which shared their namesake and both boys graduated with good grades. Charlie decided to stay in Scotland and study for his degree, but Marcus had other ideas. He applied for University overseas with the intent of spreading his wings and was granted a place at Boston University to study Economics and Finance. He returned four years later with his qualification and a year of work experience under his belt. Intent on following in his father's footsteps Marcus secured a job in London, working for an investment bank. He successfully worked his way up the ladder and eventually left (taking his clients with him) in order to start his own business.

While Marcus focussed all of his attention on his work, Charles settled down, started a family and emigrated to the south of France. Marcus was not quite ready for that and so resigned himself to building a successful business empire, which he managed whole heartedly. Several years later he laid eyes on his future wife and suddenly the idea of settling down and starting a family didn't seem so bad. The two married in a beautiful ceremony at Lake Como Italy, before they decided to lay down their roots in Scotland. It gave Marcus the opportunity to give back to the school his ancestors had founded and also spend precious time with ailing parents. His mother and father passed within weeks of each other, exactly a month before his wife gave birth to their first daughter. Marcus bought his brother out of his share of Aldridge Hall and moved his new family into the beautiful stately home. Following the birth of his daughter, Marcus and his wife had three other children. All was peaceful for a time, his wife quit her job and Marcus handed over the company reins to a predecessor so he could focus time on his growing family.

Life it seemed was entirely perfect, until he got a phone call one June afternoon. Marcus had sensed it was bad news before he picked up the phone, a number from France with no caller ID. It was a policemen on the other end who informed him in broken english that his brother and sister-in law had been killed -- a robbery gone wrong. Part of Marcus died that day along with brother. He drowned himself in alcohol for a time, stayed away from the family home and on occasion cheated on his wife just to try and feel something. It was whilst driving back from one of these liaisons that Marcus struck and killed James Marlowe. In spite of being well over the legal limit Marcus never faced jail time for what he did, he was banned from driving and forced to pay a hefty fine, but his money got him off without much of a charge. The papers savaged him for as long as the court case ran, and Marcus took out much of his anger on his family, flying off the handle at the smallest thing. He gave up drinking shortly after that and instead focussed all of his energy on improving Aldridge Academy. In time his reputation was slowly rebuilt, not many people remember the drunk driving case or the media storm that followed, though Marcus himself has never forgotten.

- born into the most condescending, posh British-American noble family in London
- attended private school and finishing school, to be kept strictly in line with her other equally posh siblings
- family is very large on chivalry and manners, being prim and proper
- when she attended her first year at a university, she met Bruce, a philanthropist’s sleazy, self-righteous son
- despite all her instincts to stay far away from him, his act was convincing enough to her and her parents to let him intimately into her life as her boyfriend. she thought it was love…
- the two had a shotgun wedding to prevent her parents from being furious about her pregnancy at 21, and to this day, they will forever be oblivious
- little delilah grace was born healthy and happy nine months later, and it seemed to be annie’s happily ever after
- with the ring on her finger and his last name, Bruce somehow was convinced that he owned annie and his daughter, and began to be forceful and needy with his wife. annie could never tell anyone about his verbal and emotional abuse, his condescending tone, and his disregard for their daughter. they wouldn’t believe her when she finally tried; not even her own parents were mildly convinced that perfectly well-polished Bruce who was a doting husband and father could lay a single finger on his beloved girls
- after two and a half years of an unhappy, strained marriage, annie served him divorce papers and fled their shared apartment while he was away in mexico, shagging models and getting wasted on a cruise.
- her parents were largely unsupportive of this idea, having enjoyed Bruce’s company and charming affection for their daughter, but annie carried on anyway. once the divorce was finalized, annie has decided to make a fresh start for herself in Scotland to escape her ex-husband’s threatening calls
- the ex husband from hell is after her, still unforgiving of her divorce filings and her rather unsympathetic parting from him just a year earlier

Jack is a perfectionist. He obsesses over every detail until its exactly how he wants it. Because of his perfectionism he's a little OCD, the type of person to label where things go, to make sure that everything is in its place. His home and appearance is alway immaculate, even when he's just mowing the lawn. It makes his sister crazy, but he can't help it. He's a little germaphobic, but that just goes along with his OCD and perfectionism. Its not bad enough where he can't shake hands with anybody, but you won't catch him doing anything that isn't sanitary. Jack is very kind, he'll go above and beyond for his students, friends and family. He's reliable and because of his Father, he was taught to never leave a man behind. He's loyal, and strong, willing to sit with you and work through your problems. He loves working with people, even if they aren't perfect. He's protective, will fight for anyone he loves, especially his little sister Hayley. After they lost their dad he can't help but feel like he needs to take care of her every little need, make sure she always has what she's looking for. He's active, loves activity and hates sitting still. Thats why he went into physical education, it gave him a chance to be active with good pay, plus he can keep an eye on his little sister. He played rugby in high school, so he developed a high pain tolerance, and that includes emotionally. It takes a lot for him to admit he needs help or that he's hurting. He's hard to get to know, but when you do, you're better off for it.

-His father retired when Jackson was 18, gave him one of his dog tags and expected him to follow in his footsteps and serve his country. Jackson didn't want to, so he went to college and got his degree in health education. He loved kids and teenagers, and he loved being active so it was truly the best option for him.
-He got a job working at the Academy, and because he is an employee his little sister got cheeper tuition, so it worked out. Jack got a fantastic job and Hayley got a fantastic education.

Jack McCloud stands at 5'9 and weighs in at 149 lb, some would say he has a medium build. With his dark hair, chocolate brown eyes, and familiar raised brow, he has women swooning over him regularly. He keeps in shape by boxing on a regular basis and eating semi-healthy. He has a sense of style that says everything about where he comes from, he almost always has his signature bow tie, suspenders and full suit on, and if he is in a relaxed mood, even his relaxed attire is made of only the best of fabrics.

-Hanging out with his best mates
-Business opportunities
-Being Sarcastic

Jack is a bit of a smart alack, even so he now knows how to take life a bit more seriously, so much so that he already has a very successful hotel/restaurant in Paris. Once the playboy, Jack has turned things around. Jack plans on making a family some day, and is looking for the right woman. Where some things have changed, other things have not. He still enjoys going to the pub, and of course joining in on the underground boxing. He spent a good deal of time in Paris and still enjoys that city very much, more so than when he was a teenager. It always held a special place for him.

-Admitting he's wrong
-Anyone messing with the few people he actually likes and loves
-His father
-His Stepmother
-Cheap clothing
-Being judged by his past instead of his present

For something like Jack McCloud it is rather difficult to face the truth and admit he's wrong, to face his mistakes and make amends. He's doing his best to learn how to do all of that better though. Jack still has an awful relationship with his father and step-mother, he avoids them when he can. He would rather burn his own hand than have to actually spend a holiday at home with his dad. He's very protective over those he has actually let in his life though, so he hates anyone messing with them. He'll kill someone for touching a hair on anyones head that he loves. He's not so good with authority figures on account of his past with his father, and it really upsets him when people judge him on his past mistakes and not on what he's trying to do with his life now.

-He's an excellent entrepreneur
-He has a way with words
-He has a big heart once you get past his rough exterior
-He can box better than most professional boxers
-He is loyal to a fault

-He's bad with expressing his emotions with people he doesn't know very well
-His father Peter
-His temper
-Keeping his hands to himself

Being forever alone is a deep fear of Jacks, he knows he has his issues and quirks, but he does hope that one day he will have his own family and won't have to be alone for the rest of his life.

Peter and Janet McCloud were expecting their first child when they found out that Janet wasn't meant for childbearing. The doctors suggested abortion, but Janet wouldn't have it, despite Peter's advice, and sometimes begging. Jack's mother died while having him, its something no one in the family talks about, unless his Dads drinking. Then he happily throws Jack under the bus and blames the boy for his first wife's death. He never was one for thinking of others feelings or being a great parent. Jack grew up in Ireland, his father a big time art manager in Dublin. He never knew poverty, but he did know lack of emotion and human contact, his father was never one of those doting dads that most kids get. He hired nannies to raise his son, to take him to sporting events(Mostly boxing even at such a young age) and on vacations. Jack grew up loving people that had no relationship to him rather than loving the man that financed his entire life. Hell half the time one of his dad many whores was taking him to lunch or out shopping. Jack listened intently when his da was around and tried to take from him what he could influence wise. The good and the bad, he really didn't see the difference to be honest. Though some of the extended family felt sorry for the boy, none of them stepped in to help or take care of him. His fathers floozies mostly wanted the young boy out of their way, not caring how he was raised or what he was going through. They only saw him as a nuisance, something they had to deal with if they married his father eventually, only one or two being an exception. Jack felt the same way about them, a nuisance, something else to take his father away from him. And though it was hard for him, Jack hardened himself, and learned not to depend on his father for anything. He went to the best private early childhood school that Dublin had to offer, only being suspended a handful of times, none of which went on his permanent school record because his fathers made things go away fairly easily. Some called him a snot nosed brat, while others did their best to be his best friend, and to be invited to every party thrown by the McClouds.

Ⅱ Pнαѕє Tωσ

Jack didn't know what it was like to have 'family' time, or a father son trip. The most his father had done for quality time with him growing up is to give him a lecture on what he wasn't doing right. He could never please his father no matter what he did, so eventually Jack just stopped trying. Jack was always one to do as he pleased, go to the pubs, get drunk, go to the underground boxing tournaments. Travel the world without permission. He would just fly to Paris on a whim without having to tell a soul, especially since he had his own personal jet. At first he disappeared to see if his father would even notice, of course his father never even knew his son was gone until the credit card bill came rolling in. After that Jack planned his trips around how adventurous it would be. He would bring home a variety of girls. Sometimes he would even pay for them to be in his room, mostly to piss off his new step mom. She didn't like scandals, humiliation, or anything like that. The new step mother was from old money, she knew what it meant to respect your parents, to go by their social circles rules, and Jack seemed to go by no ones rules as a teenager but his own, much to her dismay. His stepmother finally had enough and talked his father into shipping him away so she didn't have to put up with his antics any longer. Jack had turned into a handful, going to strip clubs at 16, doing drugs, bringing home girls, partying till all hours of the morning, and skipping school entirely. So he was made to move away. He wasn't exactly hurt by being sent away, well he told himself that, more annoyed by it. Jack liked the comforts of home, if he left then he had to find where all the good clubs were again, underground boxing rinks, ect. It was a hassle, but thankfully his father allowed him to take his own staff along with him. Jack's driver and valet accompanied him, his father forbid any of the girls he liked to go with him though. Jack acted very disappointed, mostly for show, then grudgingly agreed. Jack's father, Peter, informed Jack that if he didn't make it work then he would not be inheriting his trust fund. Big deal for Jack.

And so he went, he went to attend The Capital Academy. It was different, a Russian boarding school that housed many elite children, and a few scholarship kids as well. It was expensive, and gorgeous, it offered many different electives, as well as doors into different universities and businesses that would take their students far. Jack found it all to be a bit boring, what not was boring was a blonde that liked to get on his nerves. Her name was Anna Logan, and she had the figure of a Goddess, not that he would tell her that after they first met. The two were enemies in the beginning, a strong sexual attraction was obvious between them, but also there was a power struggle as well. No one really expected the two stubborn, elitist to end up together, but after much drama, and stolen(regretted) kisses later, they ended up together. They and some newly made friends became the talk of the school, and were the group everyone else in school wanted to be. They were named 'Couple to Last a Lifetime' by the yearbook that year, everyone assumed they would be together for life. Jack had a best mate James, and he spent a lot of time with him, and James' girlfriend Bex. Of course all good things must come to an end, right?
17, that was the age where everything changed, senior year as a matter of fact. Jack and Anna were on top of the clouds with their relationship, sure they argued and threw things at each other, but that was just them, they loved each other. Not that either one admitted it to the other. But Anna announced halfway through the year that she was no longer in love with Jack, and that she was moving back home, to be with her family for the rest of senior year. Jack was heartbroken, this was a girl that he thought he would spend the rest of his life with, and she was leaving him behind like yesterdays trash.

After graduation he left for Paris, and had plans to make his own way before his father sabotaged his life. Peter threatened his son with cutting him off from his trust fund if he didn't reconnect with him, if he didn't come home. Jack would do no such thing, he got it into his head that he had to make something of himself, so that he could be his own man. Because right then he wasn't worthy, of anyone, he disappeared off the social grid in Ireland, not speaking to any of his family or friends there.

Jack managed to get some of his money out of his trust fund before his father cut him off from the McCloud fortune. Enough for him to get himself a flat, and make sure that he would be set while he started his first business venture. He got a loan, that's right an actual loan from a bank, and bought an old hotel in Paris that him and his ex had discussed buying one day, in the far future. He did it, he bought the hotel and took enough out with the loan to start the remodeling process. Of course it wasn't an easy task and it included Jack having to put in physical labor as well, not something he was used to of course. And it took him months to build up any callouses, so you can imagine the pain he went through during that time. Almost three years later he had it up and going, a complete restore to the ancient Paris hotel. Not only did he open up with a full hotel ready, staff and everything, but he had a restaurant on the ground floor as well as a bakery. Not just any bakery, Bex Graudin's bakery, his ex's best friend. He'd been in contact with Bex and James over the years, without his ex knowledge of course. Thank goodness for friends, and of course James and him still took a yearly 'man' trip, so they caught up on everything then as well. And so time went by, and Jack started to turn a profit with the hotel, really making money. So he put in a manager at the hotel, and let his staff really take over of the running of the hotel. Of course Jack still checked in now and again, but after he handed off reigns he had time to start planning his next venture, returning to Ireland. He went to college for Psychology, he was going to be a counselor, it was something he'd always wanted to do. Five years later and Jack finally has it all pulled together and found a school that needed him, it was a boarding school in Scotland.

five years old and was born in Brooklyn, New York. She is pansexual,
cisfemale, and is married to Noemie Baudin. Resembles Sophia Tatum.

An Aldrige scholarship alumni, Margo had never known much in her life besides her former abusive relationship and her financially struggling parents. It had always been hard for her to open up about that part of
her life until she met Noemie and later became an academic advisor for
the school she had once attended. Margo goes about her day meeting
with soon to be graduates and discussing their college plans and their student records then goes to the home she shares with her wife.

This hadn't always been it, though. There was a time when Margo
wanted to drop everything and leave her life behind in Scotland. So, for
five years after graduating at eighteen and finally ending her abusive
relationship with an ex-boyfriend, Margo travelled the world, met
Noemie, whom had graduated in the same year as her, got married, and
settled back down in Scotland to work in Aldridge. Upon returning to
the place she once called home, Margo was a seemingly new person.

While she had been a more demure and shy character during her school
days, Margo learned to open herself up more. She's confident, carefree,
and damn good at getting things done within the school, regardless if
it's not what her job entails. She treats every student like they're her child
and is extremely respectful towards fellow staff.

Ivy ~ I should like to go on an adventure. (loulie1997) | 10 comments Fullname: (Fitz) Andrew Fitzgerald Hirsch
Age: 41
Year at the School: 3

Face Claim: Ian Bohen

Personality: Fitz is distant. He doesn’t like people. He doesn’t like interacting. Basically, leave him alone. Unless you interest him. If you’re interesting, you have a small window of opportunity to gain his favor. Once you’ve gained his favor, you have an ally for life. He is sarcastic and narcissistic. Fitz likes puzzles, reading, learning, and language. Language is fascinating to him and it’s a good day when he discovers the significance of a root word and how it relates to modern communication. Teaching isn’t so bad, if the students aren’t annoying. Life isn’t all that interesting. He’s mean, he’s cold, he’s a ruthless professor, and is ready for something to happen, even if he doesn’t know it yet.

History: Fitz was born in a humble home in Germany. His German father was loving, but worked a lot. His English mother was strict but Fitz’s world. He was a bright student, but a recluse for most of his childhood and adolescence. He made it through university with high marks and was well on his way to becoming a leading expert in the field of the German language. That’s when he met Kate. Young, beautiful, blonde, and his polar opposite, she brought out all his best qualities. They were married within five months, and the first year was blissful. Around their anniversary, Fitz was offered a partnership with the top language experts at Oxford, meaning his hours would triple, the new couple would have to move, to the United Kingdom, Andrew would actually have to take a slight pay cut, and he would be entering into an eight year contract. This is when Kate showed her true colors. Fitz was overwhelmed with honor and excitement for the position, but Kate would not even hear of him accepting. She admitted to struggling with his low income at a minor teaching position, and could not allow him to take a pay cut as she had given up so much of her lifestyle to be with him already. She would not leave her life in Vienna, and insisted he turn the position down. It took a much harder hit on his marriage than Fitz anticipated, and in order to save his relationship with his wife, he had no choice but to turn the position down. Turning it down took a toll on Fitz’s moral, as his dream job was now virtually out of his reach forever. Kate was not pleased that Fitz’s happiness was so closely tied to his career instead of to her, and the marriage began to crumble. Night after night were filled with fighting and anger. Within another year, Fitz discovered Kate had a lover. He was no longer interested in making the marriage work, and filed for divorce. Moving back home to Germany with an impressive resumé, Fitz received a job offer from an exclusive school in the Scottish Countryside. Secluded and a new territory, it wasn’t difficult to accept. Now in his third year at the school, the position suits him, though bitter and disimpassioned about life, he stays where he is. Working on his manuscript. Waiting. For something.

Weaknesses: Sarcasm, anti-socialist, lacking in kindness, a little too caught up in the past.
Occupation: German Professor at Aldridge
Clubs Coached None
Existing Relationships: Mother & Father
Important Belongings: First Edition German Language Bible, Collection of Latin to German dictionaries, his manuscript on “The Evolution of the German Language through Greco-Roman Culture and Influence in the Greater Anglo-Saxon Era.”

Leena's attempt at a new template(view spoiler)

One person can’t change the world, but you can become another person’s world. A warm, bright, and peaceful world. If all people could be someone’s bright, peaceful, good world, one becomes ten, and then a hundred, and the good world grows

✿Keira Pierce    ✿24    ✿New York
✿Female    ✿Librarian
FC Park Da Hyun

(view spoiler)

♡Book worm

Keira often can be found with her nose in a book, she's always off on some grand adventure with her fictional beau's. Keira doesn't socialize as well some might, but she does get around the social circles like everyone else. It just takes her a little longer than others. Keira has a vivid imagination, and it comes out in her writing, as she has several books she has started, yet has finished none of them so far. Keira has a very compassionate nature, others may take advantage of her because of it. Usually her best friend Evan is around to protect her, but as she's moved, this won't be an option anymore. Keira is protective of her heart, and has no intentions of letting down her walls for any guys coming her way, she knows she's better off with fictional men, than real ones.

To some people love is like a sign of victory, like a medal or trophy, they like to use to boast about. To some people love is a process of waiting endlessly for the other person with all their heart. To that woman love is a secret that can’t be exposed to others, not even to herself

❝A  Remembrance ❞

Keira was born in New York, New York. (view spoiler)She was put up for adoption right away, her mother wasn't fit to be her mother, and so she did what she thought was best. Keira was adopted soon after being born, to Eliza and Michael Pierce. They couldn't have children of their own, and had been trying for quite some time. They got onto a waiting list for babies, and when Keira came up they immediately jumped on the opportunity to have their own child. Keira was chubby cheeked, and had soft brown eyes, she gurgled and made cute expressions when they met her. They were immediately in love with the soft, squishy baby. They nicknamed her panda bear, and took her home after all of the paperwork was filled out. The nursery was done up in a Paris theme, the couple had honeymooned there and were fond of the city of love. Keira was put in the circular, white crib, and was home for the first time. The baby was colicky unfortunately, but her parents had the upmost patience with her, and would walk with her in their arms in a steam filled bathroom for hours on end.

Things got better as she entered toddler years (view spoiler), Keira first started walking at 11 months, and she began running at two years of age. Her parents baby proofed everything that could be proofed, the couple wanted to make sure that their baby girl was as safe as possible. They never hired a nanny, wanting to be as involved with Keira's upbringing as possible, though she did attend daycare when they were at work. Keira was a very curious child, and tried to get into many things, mostly though she just got into the bookshelf in her room, and left trails of picture books around her bedroom. She especially liked books about animals, she would giggle and babble about the animals in the books to her mommy and daddy. They would spend hours with the little tyke just reading, and making up stories together, with different endings each time. Their little panda bear was the center of their whole world, and they wouldn't have it any other way.

She was five when she entered school, she was sent to one of the best private schools in New York City. Her parents wanted her to have the best education that money could buy, and since they both had inherited quite a fortune from their trusts, they could afford it. Keira wasn't sure she liked school at first, she felt like she was different than the other kids, and so she was alone a lot at first, eating lunch alone, and playing in the corner of the playground on her own, with nothing but a book. It took almost a year, but eventually she developed a friendship with a boy named Evan(view spoiler). Evan was extroverted, and brought Keira out of her shell some as they played and talked. Keira would actually abandon her books during recess to play with Evan, and they would make up games to play together. Sometimes Keira was a damsel in distress, other times they were superheroes, or cops and robbers. The children became such good friends that their parents soon had to meet, because the children wanted to see each other more than just at school. The parents got along, happy to befriend one another and give the children a chance at play dates. Keira was excited to see her new best friend on the weekends, and once summer started, they even got to join the same summer program together! The children would be friends for a long time.

The years passed and Keira became more and more immersed in books, they were her way to get away to far off lands that she could never hope to visit, it helped her imagination build, and she was soon writing in notebooks, her own stories. She was twelve the first time that she realized that there would never be a boy that could add up to the fictional boys she read about. It was very disappointing, but she figured she could live with it, as long as books continued to be written. Evan lectured her often on how she shouldn't depend on fictional characters to keep her happy, that this would run out one day, and she would find herself old and lonely. Keira paid him no attention, she knew that if there was a guy out there for her, then they would find each other no matter what, otherwise she would be happy with her fictional bad boys.

Keira was a pretty girl(view spoiler) and could have had many boys in her school days. She found none of them interesting enough though, Evan tried setting her up with several guys in high school, but none of them worked out. She broke many hearts, and her parents started to worry about her by junior year, because she had no one in mind for prom, and was even considering not going. Evan talked her into going with him though, as just friends. They would never ruin their unique friendship by involving romance. At the end of junior year Keira met a boy who was finally interesting enough for her to give him some attention, Jace(view spoiler). He was an overseas student from London, and treated her with an old school gentleman like fashion, and his lilting accent made her toes curl. Evan didn't like him, but he wouldn't say anything, since this was the first guy that she'd actually taken interest in. Jace gave Keira special attention, he brought her flowers, read her books on picnic blankets, kissed her hands at the sweetest moments, and waited for what felt like forever to actually kiss her on the lips. Keira fell in love with the boy, much to Evan's dismay. Evan was put on the back burner while Keira made Jace the number one priority in her life. What she didn't know, was that Jace had a fiancee back in London, and he was cheating on her with Keira. She did find out a few months later though, and when she did her heart was shattered into a million pieces. She couldn't believe that she'd been so naive to think that she'd found the one. Keira felt herself break, and she wasn't sure if she would ever recover. Her parents were worried about her, and soon decided that sending her to a boarding school, where she could start over, might be the best idea for the rest of senior year. Evan was upset over his best friend being sent away, but he could understand the reasoning behind her being sent away.

Keira ended up spending the rest of her senior year at Aldridge Academy, and she made several new friends, one being Elise, who she became quite close to. The girls leaned on one another for the rest of the year, and did everything together. Keira graduated and when back home to attend NYU with Evan, there she received her literature degree. She's now returning to Aldridge as the Librarian, and she has big plans to enrich students lives through books.

≡ [ Rosa's style is best described as what the late 80s looked like in one outfit. From sharp collars to jelly shoes, even smelling Rosa's fruity hairspray is like a blast from the past. Her go-to, daily outfit consists of a sleeveless silk shirt tucked into high-waisted ripped jeans. Rosa also has a bright red sweater knit by her mother that she ties around her neck for colder days. Rosa's eyesight isn't bad (rather, she has 20/20 vision), but she has a pair of cat-eye glasses with frames that stretch up to her hairline. They're also bedazzled and full of colored Sharpie patterns, but have no actual lenses. Rosa is of average height, so she doesn't have any need for high heels, so you can usually see her with jelly shoes on the warmer days and Keds for the colder months. As for makeup, Rosa's signature look consists of bright green eyeshadow and a full, glossy, bright red lip. Her hair done up to look like a beehive and sprayed 10 times over with the strongest hairspray money can buy, it's no wonder Rosa's favorite movie is "Back to the Future." ]

≡ [ Often called the "black sheep" of her loud, fiery Spanish family, Rosa has always found comfort in her own interests, no matter how far removed they are from her family's wishes. However, Rosa can be loud, just about her own passions. She doesn't care if the people around her even listen to her ramblings; she'll talk about one subject for days just to hear someone talk about it. Once Rosa starts something, she can't let it go, and has to exhaust every angle and try every possible solution before she (albeit reluctantly) forgets about it. In addition, Rosa is very trusting and makes friends very easily. However, she is easily taken advantage of because of this trait, though she's found that her students and family are always there to back her up and protect her in times of need. Even if you're a total stranger, Rosa is there with a cup of coffee and a head full of musical fun facts to cheer you up immediately. Always positive, Rosa can always find a silver lining, no matter how dreary or hopeless the situation may seem. Full of spunk, Rosa drinks sunshine rays in the morning and stays energetic long enough to lend an ear to a student, fellow teacher, or bum on the street. ]

≡ [ Rosa's mother, Esmerelda, swears that she came out smiling because she was born before 9:00 AM. Rosa grew up around such old wives' tales and stories, but they only intrigued her - the older she got, the more fantastical they became. Rosa attributes her ability to trust anything and anyone to the stories told by her mother and aunts, but it's always good to have a little whimsy in one's life. Growing up in San Antonio, Texas, there wasn't a lot of whimsy, what with Rosa's father constantly working in the fields for mediocre pay and a severely bent back. When Rosa was four, Esmerelda's father passed, leaving her to house her three heartbroken and widowed sisters in a small and cramped space. However, there was lots of land. When Rosa wasn't taking care of her aunts, she was sitting in the fields, listening to the sounds of nature whistle by her ears and rustle her dress. Never complaining and always willing to help, Rosa grew up feeling responsible and accountable for everything that could have possibly happened in their small home. The only thing that kept her grounded was her father's calloused fingers strumming a traditional flamenco rhythm on a generations-old guitar and his low, gravelly voice telling her that it will all be better soon. When Rosa was eight and sat by her mother, watching her knit and trying to mimic her delicate hand movements, her father came through the door, took off his hat, and announced that he was leaving.

Evidently, he had noticed Esmerelda's growing stomach and assumed the worst. Esmeralda, falling into a deep depression and feeling no love or support from her sisters, had had a mad affair with one of her husband's fellow co-workers a few months back, hoping it would clear her head and allow her to see right from wrong. Sadly, the new baby boy had to shoulder the burdens of being the man of the house, and Rosa had to watch her father walk across the fields late in the night. Always the closest to her father out of all of the women she lived with, Rosa found his guitar hidden under the bed she shared with one of her aunts, with a small note reading, "It will get better soon."

Esmerelda desperately wanted her daughter to go to college. Rosa's life as a student was always the same, as not much happened in the local public school for the 18 years Rosa stayed there. One music teacher told Rosa she had a "gift," despite never hearing her play or sing, and told her to listen to some old records for inspiration. Yet, Rosa's inspiration was found in the small charms sent to her by her father each year on her birthday. She never knew where they came from; she simply added them onto her bracelet and spent the eve of her birthday wondering who else out there thought she had a gift for music. However, Rosa's mother knew, and wanted her daughter to go into finance, in order to persuade the bank to let go of the acres of land the Ortiz family lived on. Rosa's younger brother, Felipe, was considered a "lost cause," always getting into trouble and having one of his aunts bail him out of the local jail every other month. When he disappeared for three months, Rosa was the only one who wept, praying silently and feverishly all night for him to come home safe. The night she turned 17, Felipe snuck in through her window, handing her a cup of coffee, and told her that her father had returned to Barcelona but told everyone that his daughter was a famous musician to avoid being labeled as a member of that sad, San Antonio family he had left behind a decade before.

Rosa doesn't remember much of her graduation - she ran away with Felipe when he returned, only placing a chaste kiss on her mother's forehead and wiping away the tears that came over her when she heard her mother wailing from an acre away. Already accepted to the University of Texas in San Antonio on a full scholarship, Rosa lived with her brother and his "colorful" friends for three months in the back of a jumpstarted pickup truck until she could move into the dorms. With only her father's guitar and the clothes on her back, Rosa knew that she would never be able to leave if she returned home. With a music major, Rosa entered college with raw talent and a moldable mind, steering her to obtain her master's in musicology at UCLA. Felipe moved with her to California, yet became involved in a "wrong place, wrong time" case, sending him to prison for five years. Rosa, having just started classes, told Felipe that she would drop out and help him, but he stood up, placed his hand on the glass that separated them, and told her that it would all get better soon.

After graduating, Rosa caught the eye and ear of a TA from Aldridge Academy in Scotland, leading her here, where she's been working as a music teacher for two, going on three, years. She believes that this is the life she was born to live - Rosa adores what she does and her students love her just as much as she encourages them. Always smiling and willing to lend a hand (or sit down for coffee), Rosa has moved on from her life in San Antonio, but wears her father's guitar on her back and carries her aunts' names with pride. ]
