Here is the nominations thread for October's Book of the Month and Group Buddy!

If you're looking for any ideas...
-You can nominate any CF book you've had your heart set on that follows the guidelines.
-You can nominate a book by the Author of the Month for October, which is Cara C. Putman.
-You can nominate one that will work for the monthly challenge for October, which is "Award Winners Challenge" (find the full list of monthly challenges here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...).

PLEASE REVIEW THESE GUIDELINES:
-Please do not nominate a book we've already read as a group. You will be asked for a different nomination if you do. Find our shelves here: https://www.goodreads.com/group/books....
-Remember that a book must be out for 3 months or more to be eligible for nominations and voting
-Try not to nominate an author that we've read that year already
-If it is a book in a series that is not the first book, make sure you know that it can be read as a standalone and doesn't require the previous books being read to understand and enjoy.
-Please note that there may be more reasons that a book is not a good fit for nominations or group members as a whole, whether it be availability, cost, accessibility, etc. The moderators reserve the right to make these decision. Thank you for your understanding! :)

Nominations will be open until August 15.

Nominations as of August 15:
1. Shadowed by Grace by Cara C. Putman
2. A Promise to Love by Serena B. Miller
3. The Lost Girl of Astor Street by Stephanie Morrill
4. Vendetta by Lisa Harris
5. Then There Was You by Kara Isaac
6. A Sidekick's Tale by Elisabeth Grace Foley
7. Song of the Silent Harp by B.J. Hoff
8. Sons of Blackbird Mountain by Joanne Bischof

Shadowed by Grace (Story of Monuments Men #1) by Cara C. Putman
I need to reread this one, and what better excuse than because the author is featured that month!

message 3: by Natalie (new)

Natalie (creativecountry0407gmailcom) | 256 comments I will nominate A Promise to Love (Michigan Northwoods, #2) by Serena B. Miller since it looks like it won an award , and we read the b first book of the series a few years ago.

Loraine, I love that movie. Such a great story. Cara has said that she had already worked on the book before realizing the movie of the same topic was coming out around the same time. I love the way God worked that out.

The movie was so good. That is what I call a "Godincidence."

Hey, Karin, I see this is #4 in a series - is it the kind of series that each book can function as a standalone?

Sorry, yes it is--I forgot this is book 4 because I have it here at home to read right now and it's been a while since I read the last one (haven't yet started it). Each book has a completely separately contained mystery so can be read as a stand alone. That said, I see you haven't read the first one in the series, so I will change this to Vendetta. I see you read the first book in her Southern Crimes series (a different one) but that was in 2015, so how about Vendetta?

I am not a huge thriller fan, but I like hers at 4 stars, which is very high for me and thrillers. This and her Southern Crime series are the two I quite like.

And, for all you romance fans in this group, while this isn't a romance per se, there is something that slowly brews over the series.

That's okay! I just always try to check with series, just in case. Most CF series are not series in the strictest sense of the word. Vendetta should work just fine, too.

And the plot thickens...there is a current lead on the Group Read, but the next 3 are tied for the Group Buddy, dun dun dun!

Pardon my added drama, I'm sick and medicated, hehe.

Glad that one was chosen as we just watched the movie Monuments Men. Also saw a lady on Antiques Roadshow Monday night who had pictures of some of the artworks as her grandfather was on the team.

Karin | 182 comments I missed the tie-breaker vote, but I see my vote would have made no difference. But so close to getting something that is not romance (well, to be honest, there is romance, it's just not a romance genre one). I realize romance novels are popular here, but I prefer my romance genre stuff in movie form :)

message 45: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 945 comments Perfect! I just received Shadowed by Grace (Story of Monuments Men #1) by Cara C. Putman for a birthday gift, so I'll definitely be joining in!

I'll be reading it too Hannah. I have it on Kindle, and we just watched the movie Monuments Men.
